Told to call this number via txt and to quote a ref: number

What the hell is this for? - I was told to call this number via SMS...

SMS goes like this: Hi <my_name> its Dani. Can you please contact me urgently on 1300305212 & quote ref. <ref_number>. Thank you. To opt-out reply with N.

I called the number to find out that it's Dun & Bradstreet, apparently I had an old outstanding power bill for $71.

The number in the SMS went through to a hold message- I suggest that you call the Debt Collection Centre on 1300 669 056.

"Please contact Karen urgently on 98283500 urgently and quote ref: # before 9pm EST. To not receive SMS from D&B reply with N to this message. Thankyou."

I am seriously confused!!!!

Had a sms saying the following tonight,

Please call Karen at DNB on 1300305212 quoting #lalalala regarding amount owing on your account before 9pm EST. Reply N to opt out. Thank you.

I rang and Indian call centre and they said I had a debt and that they needed my name, address and date of birth. I hanged up on them.

I received an sms saying,

"Megan your attention is required to resolve a sensitive business matter immediately. Please call 1300559483 & quote ref.xxxxxxx. To opt-out reply with N."

A few days later I received a phone call on my mobile from a private number. A lady introduced herself as Brigitta from Dunn & Bradstreet in Melbourne and that she wanted to confirm my full name (which she knew... middle name also) and then wanted to "confirm my birthdate" (which she didn't read out so I dont know if she knew it). I was starting to get annoyed as she wouldnt tell me who I allegedly owed money to. When I refused to tell her  anything about me she hung up! I knew then it was a scam for for. Dogs!

My phone company is Vodafone and I'm beginning to think that someone has hacked into their records.

Got an sms telling me it was jodie one time and dani another. the sms saying to call this number urgently and quote the ref. number.

haha got the karen one aswell, wdf?

I just got the Karen one too - but there's no mention of debt in the sms.
Just to contact 1300 3050212 immediately

I just got this sms tonight also, it says nothing about who they are from or anything like that it just says "please contact karen urgently on 1300305212 and quote ref number before 9pm. Thank you To opt out reply with N

I just got this msg while i am on holiday in Europe. This is scam for sure.Any one reported this to Police?

I contact that five times and just voice message. Who are they? so terrible!
