I 've been receiving calls from 1300730522- claiming it is Baycorp Advantage, and needing to verify my Details, like DOB. Which I have not done. This is cold calling and out of the blue. This is a scam, if you ever get this number.

Anyways, Baycorp Advantage is the previous company name too!!! The real Company is called Veda Advantage now.

My old boss I haven't worked for in 3 yrs has been receiving phone calls from them asking about me and saying they r from a company called (Business solutions) he refused to give out my details so they passed on there number 1300 730 522 and a reference number I'm guessing it's this relapsed company so I told my old boss to tell them to [***] off thanks for the advice from previous posts

Was told they were a financial management company calling from Aukland NZ.
Have had at least 6 calls from them in 2 weeks. Would not reveal what it was about.

Had a call recently from someone asking my DOB.  Refused to tell him.  He said he was calling from Baycorp but wouldn't say why.  Refused to send me anything until he could verify was the person he wanted to contact.  I refused to tell him anything as I had no way of knowing if he was a shonk or legit!  He asked me to call back on 1300 730 522.  I didn't.

Checks on BAYCORP lead to a dead website: baycorp.com.au  There is a Baycorp (WA) in the Yellow Pages but it doesn't list a 1300 number.  The phone number listed (08) 6103 2800 does answer in the name of Baycorp.   The ABN in the YP lead to a registered company at the same street address.  I have no known debts and no idea why this turkey called.  Other Google searches lead to the name REPOL at the same address who are/were debt collectors, also with a dead website.

The call could be an attempt to collect personal information for identity fraud or it could be some kind of shonky attempt at misguided debt collection.  Might be chasing a different person with same name as me.

I received a phone call from a private number who asked me to give my own details to establish my credential.  I told her that I was happy to do that but I needed to establish her credential first.  She kept saying she was from 'Rebecca' Baycorp and proceded to describe the organisation.  After my insistent she gave 1300730522 extension 5239.

I rang the number and spoke to a male person.  I asked to be put through to the extension which he would not do.  When I asked for his name for my record the line went dead.

There is a legitimate Baycorp who I believe used to be called 'Credit Reference'.  The organisation provided an important role in credit market. One would think the organisation is reputable and would not use shonky tactics.  To assist them, I relayed my interactions to Baycorp via their contact page on their website.  I'll be surprised if 'Rebecca' was legit.  If not this must be a scam.

I have been receiving regular calls from an automated dialling service for my adult daughter who hasn't lived with us for some time now. This is unusual as she would give people her mobile number and not this landline. When I told the man she didn't lived with us he requested current contact details. I refused to give him any info and when asked what it was about he said he needed to speak to her regarding a debt owing to a third party. I debated this as she has being living overseas for over two years but his response was that he couldn't disclose anything further due to privacy laws. I asked him to send something in writing and I would forward it to her but he said they would just keep calling back.

I was given this 1300 number for my daughter to phone and a reference no to quote. I queried him working on a Saturday afternoon and said I'd never heard of Baycorp. He became quite insistent that as a caring mother I should get her to phone them - usually scam callers back off and even hang up when you ask too many questions (I also said I was going to check out Baycorp with ASIC). He directed me to a website which seems to be legit but the 1300 number is different so I called it and got a recorded message asking me to phone in business hours which is when I really started to get suspicious. I googled the 1300 number and got this thread (thank goodness). I am 99.00% sure this is a scam - the moral of the story is to never give ANY cold callers your personal details.

I called them back to see what the issue was, as they had been calling my parents place for 6 months.

Basically Baycorp said that they were chasing someone with the same first and last name, and hadn't been able to find them. So they were trying everyone they could find with the same first and last name. Only gave my DOB which didn't match the one they had. As a result they said they would remove my parents number from their list.

I just received a call from them and they know my real name, as I answered yes, now they know my phone number and my real name, but I refused to tell them anything else but they asked me to call back on the same 1300 number! But I just worry does it matter they already know my real name?

just received a call from this number - it is okay for them to ask for information regarding a person - we can't ramble of the private act, but its ok for them.  Even though I informed them on Monday when they rang and again today, that I have no contact with the person they are looking for - they informed me that they would keep ringing till they got the information.  Have called the police and they are interested - as they have been getting a lot of calls

I just received one of these calls. The original woman asked to speak to me (knew my full name), and then asked me to confirm my date of birth and address. I asked who they were and what they were calling but she refused unless I confirmed the details she asked for. I again asked who was calling and she said Baycorp. I asked what type of company they were and she refused to tell me. I told her I would like to find out who the company was and I would call them back as I wasn't aware of having any accounts with Baycorp.
I googled them and saw that they were debt collectors. Freaking out, I called them straight back as I don't have any debts!

The first lady who took my call transferred me. The man who answered my call said he could not find my name on his data base. I called again just to see what would happen. 'Rebecca' answered and said she also could not find anything under my name. She asked me if I had ever lived in Kellyville, and two other Sydney suburbs which I can't remember. I have never lived in any of them.
I have called the Dept of Fair Trading and she suggested going to www.mycreditfile.com.au to get a report on whether I do have any debts or not. I am also going to lodge a complaint via their website (http://www.fairtrading.nsw.gov.au/ftw/About_u ... _complaint.page?) and urge others to do the same.
All the callers asked me for my reference number and were suprised I didn't have one. Weird.

Yes, same call asking for "press 1 if your name is" (gave my name) spoke to a girl who asked for DOB (which I didn't give) said I owed nearly $200 to Telstra with a phone number far, far away from where I live. Then with threats of disconnecting my phone over Christmas. I asked her for evidence of the unpaid bill and they sent me DEMAND FOR PAYMENT letter but no evidence. Funny thing is, I am with another carrier and have been for years. YES, ITS A SCAM. I will be contacting Fair Trading

I received a call last night from this number saying I owed Telstra $1290, because I recently paid of my debt and don't recall having this number I followed it up with Telstra and it is a prepaid number. You can't owe money on prepaid.

We are a legitimate company, full stop.
Search our ABN: 16086072004 in the ASIC, you'll see it for yourself.
Yes we used to be called Baycorp Advantage, we then sold that part of our company to a third party. They have been renamed and are now called Veda Advantage. Baycorp have retained their collection centres, and are now called Baycorp Ltd.
Did it ever cross your minds that a company may have more than one call centre? No probably not, and that a company may have more than one contact number? Being a trans-tasman company also means that there is one call centre in New Zealand and two in Australia, with employees catering to both countries. So yes one day you may get a call from an employee in Australia, and a few days later it may be from an employee in New Zealand.

Our New Zealand contact centre has a main contact number of 1300 730 522 for our Australian debts, and our Australian call centres have a contact number of 1300 55 88 30. This is to keep 'lots' of debt together.
We operate outbound calls Mon-Sat and take inbound calls from Mon-Fri.

We purchase our debts from clients such as AGL/EA/Telstra in bulk lots, some have invoices attached, some do not. So when someone requests and invoice, we have to request it from the client, once they get to it they send us the invoices and we then forward this onto yourselves. Depending on the client, this can take anywhere from one day to a month.

Something else you may want to know is that if we are contacting you about a debt from Telstra, is that once a debt is sold to Baycorp, Telstra then 'archive' your file. This means that contact them and speaking to their general customer service isn't going to get you anywhere as they wont be able to locate your file, simply because it has been archived. If you are wanting to speak with Telstra about the debt before speaking to Baycorp about it, ask to be transferred through to Telstra's CREDIT TEAM. This is because the only employees that will have access to the now archived file are in the credit team. They will be able to help you with any queries you have.

Legally an employee needs to obtain three points of identity before we can discuss an account. Depending on what information the client (Telstra, AGL, Optus, EA to name a few) have provided us. This is usually a fullname/date of birth/address. In some cases we haven't been provided one of these three and can request the confirmation of an email address or identity number. You may ask our employees to provide their extension number, their employee number, the companies ABN number, or any other details you would like. You can ask to speak with a manager/supervisor if it is your wish to do so.

At the end of the day, we are attempting to locate the person whose file we are now in possesion of. We will call any leads we are provided as it is our aim at the end of the day to obtain the outstanding debt.

I'm being with Telstra for many years. When I tried to upgrade my mobile, they said that there was an issue with Baycorp Debt Collectors and they couldn't give a new phone until it was resolved. I rang Baycorp and told me that I owed $62 since 2012. Because I didn't want any problems I paid the amount. After I learnt that the phone number I paid it's not mine and the address they have wasn't mine either. The woman from Baycorp suggested to write a dispute letter to her company which i did, and that they don't send me a receipt for my payment unless is required by me.
Telstra won't clear my credit history till they receive the notification that the bill has been paid.
I shouldn't had paid that account!!!!!!!
