SCAM. Claimed to be calling from the US Government Grant Dept, saying I was selected to receive a grant of over $9000, that I would never have to pay back or pay taxes on. Sounded very obviously reading from a script. Was hung up on when I questioned the call-center amount of noise in the background.

I had the same call tonight

Just received exact call and for $9,000. I told them they would be reported and they hung up.

Received the same call told them I knew it was obviously a scam and he hung up. Hopefully the police are aware.

They must have called me 4 times today and twice yesterday. My husband answered once and nobody said anything at all, but the caller stayed on the line for over a minute. Annoying. Had to see what this was about & am glad this thread was posted.

I got 2 calls from this number today and I answered the 2nd time. Guy sounded like a robot with a foreign accent and said I was 1 of 1600 people selected to receive a grant for $9255. I asked his name and the name of the company and he hung up.

I just received the same thing and they said they were with the Washington Dc grant department. It was an Asian guy and he hung up on me. Glad I googled the number and saw people received the same scam phone call.. People are idiots and I hope karma bites them in the ass.

They called my number legit 3 times and I said who is this? The guy said "F U" and hung up

Received 2 calls yesterday and 2 calls today. Never left a voicemail. Finally answered today - they asked for my sister. I said they have the wrong number and hung up. Received another call in the afternoon. They asked for my sister again. I asked what business they were associated with; they hung up.
Its sketchy and weird. Don't give them anything.

Second phone call from them tonight. Guess they really want to give me that 9 grand!  Can't understand a word the woman was saying.

Called twice wanted to answer out of curiosity but I won't now.

Glad to read these stories; this number called, I picked up and heard the phone ringing as though I had dialed. Someone  picked up, and then hung up immediately without a word after I said Hello. Maybe my voice didn't fit his profile for scam victim? Who knows.

Received 3 calls from (202) 222-2000 today March 26...did not pick up.  On the 4th call, I picked up someone started rambling and I could not understand what they were saying.  When I asked them to speak clearly, they hung up.

Got a call from this number (202) 222-2000 last Friday.  The caller had an Indian accent and offered a grant of $9,000 when pressed as to where he got my cell phone  he became beligerent and stated that i was not listening to him  I hung up.  He called back today 3/30/15 DO NOT RESPOND TO THIS CALLER.....IT SEEMS TO BE A SCAM OF SOME SORT.

I got a call from 2022222000, first over the weekend, didn't answer, no voice mail was left, again today Monday, I answered this guy was saying he is calling from Washington DC from the Department of Treasury IRS, told him yes, I know and this a scam, he hung up.

This number has been calling me all week, finally picked up today and got a guy with an accent on the phone. In the background it sounded like he had a recording going with a bunch of people talking to make it seem like he was legit, said he was from the us finance department in dc. After that I just hung up, definitely a scam!!
