This is a DEA scam.  The caller states that they are a special agent from the DEA and that you are guilty of the federal offense of purchasing medication from and overseas company.  The demand a huge fine we wired to the Dominican Republic immediately or say you will face mandatory jail time.  The caller states his name as special DEA Agent William Weiss.

Got the same call!! He wanted $1850. to pay a fine and clear up the matter. Told him to fax everything over to me and said he would call me back. He never did!!  Scared the life out of me though..said I would serve time in a federal prison for 12 months and I need to get a lawyer ASAP!! He sounds very convincing...don't fall for this ...TOTAL SCAM!!!!!!!!!

Just got the same phone call w/the same return phone number. Same speech re paying a fine and all would be well. When I pressed for more info regarding credentials as a DEA Agent he sad he had to go to court and hung up.

I got this call also. It was very disturbing to me. He came up with a date in Sept 2007 about the time my son was killed in Iraq and I'm sure I wasn't out buying drugs. still, it was very scary. did anybody hear back from him?
Maybe he just got some old prospect list or something.

I got a call from "Special Agent William Rice." What a jerk. He's been at this a long time as I see from all the posts. PLEASE DO NOT FALL FOR THIS OR GIVE THIS JERK MONEY OR EVEN THE TIME OF DAY!

The same William Weiss called me saying he was going straight to the courthouse to have me locked up by Oct 27th if I didn't pay $950 today. He said he was a DEA agent in Washington DC.

I did send $800.  I feel so stupid.  I sent it through Western Union

Man called, very intimidating, stating that I had broken the federal law and would go to jail if I didn't settle matter

I got a call from "William Rice" stating that I would go to court in DC if I did not Western Union him $2,500.00 that day before 1pm. or I would go to jail for 12 months. Scared I went to my bank, the teller told me this was a scam.  Still not sure I went to Western Union, and they got a supervisor on the phone and confirmed it truly was a scam and not to send any money.  I did not send any money but two months later I got a phone call from a "Peter Franco" from Washington DC DEA and wanted me to send more money.  I have called the local police dept. who refered me to my local Attorney General's office and I did make a formal complaint.  Be ware of these scum bags!! They do sound real until you press them for more information.

Got a call from Agent Rice I was told to wire 3000.00 to an offshore account or else I would go to jail.  When I told him Western Union said it was a scam, he told me a letter requsting me to appear in a Washington DC court would come to my home address.  Guess what? the letter never came. It was a scam!! Watch out

Just got a call from a so called USDA DEA officer.  William Rice was his name.  He said I had ordered illegal drugs from the Domican republic this supposedly had happened in 2007.  What a scam!!!!  I told him I was recording his call and my husband had a team of lawyers working for his company that could certainly handle this matter.  He was going to fax me the affadavit but I must send him a check for $2850 or face 90 days in jail.  What a crock.  Haven't received a fax yet and have never ordered any illegal drugs.  People should be aware he had a New Jersey accent sounded nothing like a federal agent.  I told him I was personal friends with our local federal judge so go ahead and file charges against me.  He hung up immediately.

I received a call from a william weiss supposedly from DEA in Washington DC about illegal drugs purchased in 2007/2008.  It was pretty scary, it was like talking to a robot, he said I had a hearing in DC on Jan 11.  I knew I didn't order any illegal drugs from the Dominican Republic so I asked for something in writing.  He didn't ask for any money, I wouldn't have sent it anyway, but said I need to get a lawyer to respond.  Glad to hear this is a scam, I was a bit concerned and began to pray about it.  I began to think surely our government doesn't call you on the phone about something that's serious as a hearing regarding drugs, I should have known.  This site is great for weeding out possible scams, thanks....

Special Agent William Wright claiming to be of the DEA out of Washington DC called my cell phone and said I purchased medication online from the Dominican Republic in Sept. 2007 and attempted to extort $2000 from me- telling me maybe if I was lucky they may drop the charges if I western union the money to him right away, or there will be a court date in 2 weeks.  Told me that it was illegal and I could face up to 15 years in a federal prison if found guilty.  Told me to contact an attorney.  What a scarry phone call!!  Thank you to all who posted this confirming it is a scam.  It reeked of being a scam to me.  I am so sorry to those who fell victim to this.

William Wright Special Agent DEA asked if I had my lawyer with me. I said no I knew nothing about this, he says "well I guess if you want soemthing done you have to do it yourself"  He said I bought ambien over the internet in 2007 and they confiscated it and I was being prosecuted.  He said I will recive a summons in the mail, soon and I need to get my lawyer.  I told him I thought this was a scam and that I am calling the DEA to check his credentials.  He hung up on me.
Must have a real ego to try a scam like this then then to actually scare people must get his thrills.  I sure hope that he is caught and prosecuted to teh full extent of the law.  Maybe teh 12 or 15 years he threatened us with.

He left me a message on my phone this afternoon.  He told me he had confiscated pills that I had purchased online.  I'm so glad I goggled his name and heard all the stories.  I won't waste a cent calling this number back
