Said I had been one of 1,700 selected to received a grant. Had my name and my *work* zip code; wanted to know my age. He gave address of 200 Independence Avenue SW, Washington DC. "Department of Grants". He could not pronounce "Illinois" correctly, so I am assuming he was not an native English speaker.

Dept of Grants call for grant of $7000 spoke with russian accent

A foreign accented woman called, caller id said Janeen White.  She tried to scam on of my parents while I was visiting.  I took the phone and asked if was ok to record the call so I could give it to the FBI.  Then I asked what government agency?  She questioned why I did not want the $7000 and then told me to "F*** Off".  

Does anyone know where this stuff can be reported to take these people down?

You may want to call your state Attorney General consumer protection line
Which I plan to call tomorrow with 4 different 202 area code numbers.
Keep track of how often they call and record all numbers used.
I will feel free to use the vulgar variety of the queens English  when
They call back from the 202 area code.
It's important to register the complaint. Enough complaints and they
will look into it.

Said I had been chosen to receive 7000 dollars but I had to pay a 310 dollar refundable fee. Now I have been in school a few years now and when I get grant money I don't have to pay a refundable fee .

When I answer they just hold the line open. I am tired of it.

This number pops up a lot and no message is EVER LEFT!!!  They gave me  a "call back" number (202-738-1426) from this number.  He told me to call this number and verify an I.D # (VD141)  VD??  That's comical.  Neither caller could speak fluent English and I became frustrated!!!  They kept telling me I was going to receive a $7000 Grant from the Federal Government that I wouldn't have to pay back.  Trouble is......I get SSI and was never informed of such monies.  Also, they kept wanting additional info that I am NEVER going to reveal....SS#, Bank info, etc.  The didn't even know what name to call me!!!!!!!
I would LOVE to find out how to take these people down!!!!!!!  Way down to Chinatown!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

United States Department of Grants - I think. He pronounced it greenz and had very thick accent. Indian? Middle Eastern? I acted like I couldn't understand him and he hung up very quickly once he realized I was laughing at him.

They have harrased me for 12 days straight calling at all hours of the day and night.

Same here. $7000 in grants if I provided grant information. The man Scott Carry gave the same address and the website www.usgrants.gov (which does not exist) and told me I was selfish, liked to hear myself talk, did not listen, and was a waste of his time and breath. I am a teacher and went into full teaching mode and explained how if I was being offered this grant I needed to speak with his superior and then once my questions were answered he could continue with the process. He then told me he was hanging up and to have a sh*tty day. All in an asian accent. Already reported to BBB and feds.

Said I received a grant of 7,000.00. Wanted my bank account info. Told her no way. She then proceeded to call me names and said she was going to hunt me down and kill me and my family. I hung up on her and she continued to call me back 4 times in a roll.

Got a call from this number but they hung up once I answered.  After reading these posts I will report this number to the FTC.

I did not answer the call and no message was left, so I checked here. I'm not surprised. The first thing to remember is you have to apply for a government grant. No government agency will call to say an unsolicited "grant" is waiting for you. No bank account or social security information would be asked for over the phone. And, the government certainly would never ask for a fee of any kind.

The same just happened to me. The lady seemed nice but couldnt answer questions she just kept reading her lines. I said okay so say i was interested in this grant what do i do? She said you give us your visa or mastercard number or bank account number and we transfer it to you. I said i was not interested in giving out my personal information and she hung up.

I got several calls from this number within a two hour span. No message and no response when I answered

They claimed I was eligible for a $7000 grant from the US Grant dept. The caller was foreign and could not pronounce grent nor deparrrt ment very well. When I asked for more details they hung up.
