This number will call my cell, but hangs up after it rings one time. I guess they don't like my ringback music. Although they call my home and mom's cell trying to sell a car warranty nearly daily. It's super annoying.

It Is Criminals Calling, do not answer!
This is an Identity Theft phishing scam - they tell you it is for an Extended Car Warranty, once they get your Credit Card number they charge thousands of dollar on it. It uses a sequential number Auto-dialing computer (Calls EVERY phone number by adding 1 to the previous phone number) and is run by criminals.... they could care less about the Do-Not-Call list.  The phone number seen on Caller ID is "spoofed", which means it is not the number from which the call was placed - they just pick some random number to use when the computer dials the calls.   In all probability, the calls are coming from Russia,  Nigeria or another one of the countries that are known for email scams - IT IS THE SAME PEOPLE that send out Email phishing scams!

I figured it out...If you owe money to either WFNNB or PAYPAL some of the numbers mostly 614's 800's and 913's are legitimate calls. If you are being warned about your automobile warranty or being left a message to press a number to be taken off a call list, you are being targeted by scammers. Ask yourself these questions. Do I have a VOIP or VOP phone service? Do I know who my phone service carrier is? because chances are it is Paetec communications or red rock communications that is providing their customers with the ability to scam other people with the same carrier. ex: Your phone carrier is Paetec. The scammers carrier is Paetec also. I hope this link shows up...here you can read one story and the comments after http://kerfuffle.wordpress.com/2009/03/20/paetec-red-rock-communications/. Will post back when I have more info.
p.s. on behalf of Paetec Communications: they seem to know what is happening and are in the process of fixing it. Let's hope so and let's keep this going by copying and pasting what I wrote so we can apply the complaint to other numbers. I can't get to them all...there are too many.  Pass it on Folks.

Had about half a dozen missed calls from this number, when I finally did answer it I got a recorded message about health insurance.  I did what I usually do for these type of calls, I hit "1" then just sat there and listened to them say "Hello?" until they gave up and disconnected.  Ha!  It amuses me at least.

Just got a call from this number.  I do not answer strange numbers.

This is the auto insurance scam?  Seriously?  What we need here is a good, old-fashioned lynch mob.  Next time they call you, invite them to a necktie party.

Hey guys i figured out how they will stop calling you try to talk to them for a bit and when you get their information and what company they are just let them know that you have recorded the whole phone conversation and you will see they will never call you back again. They used to call my cellphone every day about 3 to 4 times a day. Trust me it works they are scared from the government.

    Good Luck Guys

If it wasn't for the fact that it was my cell phone I'd answer and let him talk to my kid. For those of you who have the minutes let them talk to your two year old!

They call me on my business phone, sometimes 3x a day!
In the middle of meeting, on weekends, etc...
I hung up for the first 2 weeks.
Than I listened till the end of the automated message about healthcare insurance to hear if there was an option to get removed from their call list, which they had.....but pressing 2 for the following 2 weeks did not change a thing either.
Finally I pressed 1 today and wanted to tell them to stp calling me or I would report them, but they hung up on me before I could finish my 1st sentence!

How can I stop them ??? Please??? Can I report them to the police? Would that help?
