Who called from this telephone number, 1 202 506 9230 ?

Somebody called me from this # claiming to be IRS. Is this a scam

IRS won't call. They send official letters on letter head.

Yes just got the call seems like a scam

Just got the call and they left a message said the call from IRS and asked to call back.

Just got the call and they left a computer generated message said the call from IRS and asked to call back. It sounded and appeared like a scam.

If you aren't used to someone trying to intimidate you, this call might unnerve you.  They will make it clear that you owe IRS $ and your attempt to defraud the government is resulting in prosecution with jail time and your bank accounts being tied up for 5 yrs . They say agents have tried to contact you and you have evaded them. They knew my name and my husbands and our address.  The woman who called puts her male "supervisor" on the phone to reiterate. If you don't believe them, he says you can wait for the police to arrest you and they will be there soon. Fortunately, I didn't give them any information other than spelling my first name. I hung up on them. As someone else said, the woman had a somewhat thick accent.

Interesting when I told her I would report them to the FCC she called me a motherf---er and [***] mfer....What a hoot. They are total scam artists.
