So I just got a call from some foriegn guy and he told me that I had been selected for $7000 government grant that I would not have to pay back and it was tax free. I didnt really pay any attention to what he was saying. He then told me to call a guy name sam dowson after he gave me a confirmation # and told me not to tell anyone until i pick up my money. He gave me the number 202-559-7648 and told me to call him and if the line was busy to just call back every 5 minutes until i get a hold of him.

They keep calling me and hanging up

I keep getting phone calls on my cell phone from this number today. I've received 4 during my work day. When I answer, the caller hangs up. This is very annoying and I'm sure that I am being scammed. I am going to call my cell phone company and have this number blocked.

Woman spoke said slowly 'hello'
I ask here 'how can I help you'
after a few heavy breaths (stoned i guess)

So this number calls me and it was a lady. I didnt understand her. It sounded like she said her name was madea. haha. but anyway, so she says she is calling from some united states federal grant something...and i gave her a questioning uh huh...and she hung up. But she sounded seriously foreighn and my caller id said it was from the district of columbia. im pretty sure this isn't legit because nobody would just hand money to anybody in this country. not like this.

I am getting a call from the # 2025597648, When I try answer the call immediately gets disconnect. When I try to call back its engaged. Since morning I have got more than 10 calls. Today is 03/30/2013 Saturday.

Yes, quite comical.    Had a call from this number, his name was George.  Pressed him for his last name and he said Pitt.  He then gave a disertation of how he was calling from the US government about a grant.   When I asked for the address, etc he was confused and hung up.   I seriously love playing with these pathetic jokers!

Yup. Missed one of these calls today. Got another and answered out of curiousity. Same deal. Foreign woman offering $7000 just for giving my account info to her. I said she could, of course, mail me a check an I'd be happy to provide a mailing address. She said they can only do this by credit card. I said yeah right. When asked what government agency she worked for, she seemed very confused. Scam, scam, scam.

Same story for me--It's a laughable scam, not very smart.

It is. They just called me too--It's stupid and very annoying.

Just received the same call. The other day it was a guy but today it was a lady and same as before when I asked for a returned number or web address so I can look into it more they hung up...wow tooo funny

Got the same call! $7,000 grant money! Tax free! The guy said he got my number from filing my taxes this year! Too bad I didn't file this year! Hung up!

Same thing happened to me today. Calling from US Claims Dept. I handed the phone to my husband he deals with scammers better than me. He asked the guy, what government agency gives money for NO reason.  He couldn't identify what claims department. As I am typing this they just called again.

Received two calls from this number, today. They say nothing and after a bit, they hang up. I think they are checking to see if anyone is available to answer the phone. I think it is the Washington, DC prefix, but it could be Canadian.

I just got one. There was silence then a person said "goodbye" and hung up. I'm sure I'm getting them because the person who had my number before me got them so often they must have changed their number.

Pain in the ass. DON'T VOLUNTEER ANY OF YOUR PERSONAL INFORMATION. If you do they take it and access that information. They then call back and personalize the scam to you.

The DEA's websites say "they contact you by phone" and "ask if you get what looks like a real phone number to call there tip line and leave the information.

Where you able to get a hold of the people? they have called me twice today as well but they told me io have to give them two hundred dollars before they gave me the 7000.00 i personally think its a scam..

Said I have received a grant for $7000 and wanted to know my bank acct  info. When I said I don't give out that info over the phone
