I respond, actually call the number, which takes me to "google voice."

I got a text message from them after I posted my van on craigslist for sale. Saying they wanted to buy my van for their son and to provide my paypal account information and they have a their agent on the way for my van. Sellers be ware

Got a  text after putting car on craigslist,  I am in Nevada and they are in Washingon DC.   sounds like a  Spammer/scammer.

Same thing, same exact story by text. I'm in Oregon. On an oil rig and can't call. Don't know how the scam would work but does sound like one.

Same thing! A text message wanting to buy my father's motorcycle from CL in from Sac, CA. Text # came from Washington DC. The purchase was a surprise gift for his son. Wanted to know if Pay Pal was okay to use. Full asking price was no problem. An Engineer for Don Pedro Oil! No name given. Asked what condition the motorcycle was in and why are we selling the cycle.  Bla, bla, bla! I took a pic of a blog of complaints on the scammer and sent it! I said, caught you!

They seem to want your email and paypal details quickly

People report to paypay ok. They are obv crooks from somewhere and must have their own paypal to try to scam you
Takes minutes to make a free mail address

Got a call said he was an oil worker wanting it for his son can I give him my pay pal account he will send the money and an agent will pick it up I called the no he sent it was an African accent that answered this is a con beware they will extact money from your account

Same story! I'm selling a vehicle on Craigslist. I have had three of these, but the latest one was the funniest. I can usually spot them because of their disjointed "English". It's always the same story. They are willing to purchase, they are purchasing for someone else, they can't pick it up in person, but their "agent" will, and they will pay via PayPal.  This time the person worked for don Pedro offshore oil and was currently onboard the boat. I actually got a good laugh, but it truly is a serious issue as some gullible people are being duped! A form of this happened to my brother in law. The person actually sent a check from a company. The check was for more than the purchase amount. They wanted my brother in law to write them a check for the amount of overpayment. So, in his case they were just going to be happy with getting that money back and then my brother in law would be out that money plus be held responsible for depositing a check  from a company who had no idea that someone was paying for items using checks that had been made by this thief. The check actually cleared my brother in laws acct, but luckily we made phone calls and found that the company had no idea. So, the money was returned to them. Oh, and the thief said that he was deaf, so he could actually speak on the phone. All contact had to be through text.
JUST BEWARE! If it seems to good, IT IS!

BOTTOM LINE- sell to those that you can meet in person, and put cash in your hand!
