I recieved a call saying 1700 people have been chosen to recieve this money $7,600 form US Federal Grant Department and to pick it up I need to SEND $199 by western union and in 10minutes I would recieve it right back plus the $7600...... I asked how I can verify this and that i never applied for a grant and he was getting frustrated and somehow we disconnected?

How ridiculous can a scam be when someone calls you out of the clear blue to tell you they are holding money that you never asked for?? My IT company traced this call to INDIA and forwarded the information to state and local govt officials.

These people pray on the financially strapped and the elderly, how evil!

I to just got a phone call about this as well, their accents were so thick that could hardly make out what they were saying about the 199 deposit they were making it sound like Western Union held on to it while the money was being confirmed, but I told them I could not get to a western union tonight and he actually said he would call back on Monday! No I'm not going to be giving them any money of corse already going to call the FBI the first thing in the morning since they are trying to tell people they are from the government.

I just got the call... Dont be stupid! The Fed would never pay grants in this way. Go to WWW.GRANTS.GOV and report and ask the government why they are not doing anything about this.
