An "Oliver Smith" with a thick Indian accent said I was selected for a $9k grant from the government, Health and Human Services Dept. I was instructed to call this number(202.657.5198) back and speak to their "Sr. Accountant". Pshhh...it was such an obvious and lame scam!

Ya just got one. The money is good unless i use it on illegal activities. kinda funny he said that since im sure he wants my info for identity theft.

I received a call from a unavailable number telling me I could receive $9,200 in grant money by calling 202-657-5198.  I couldn't understand what the callers name was because his accent was too strong.  Sounded like he was from India. I have thought about calling just to see what they have to say but don't have the guts.  Why would people waste their time by calling people with this joke.  My approval code given was GG1001.  I wonder how many people have received the same code.  Has anyone actually called this number to check it out?

Yea I just did a guy answered and I told him a person from another country called me and said I was selected to receive a 9'000 dollar grant. He ask me for my approval number and told me not to call this number again.

I received several call from this number over the last 2 weeks. I finally answered and she said I  am eligible for a $9200 grant from the US Government. A one time personal grant. Something coming out of a survey the Government did a year ago. Had to verify mailing address and email. Wrong zip code and wrong email address. I asked where she got the information from and she said US Government, tax department, I told her she should have my correct zip code then. She said she had to verify my information and would call me back and hung up.

Keep calling me telling me I have $9200.00 grant from the government. Thick accent,  male. First call was a female with an accent. Pissing me off and I don't know how they got my phone number.

Receive a call from a lady at this number with a thick accent. She said According to the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009, they had $9200 Grant money for me. Also, they qualified my first, last, address, and email over the phone (they had them already). I was told to call the senior Accounting Officer at 206-317-1217 and give an approval number of: CAxxxxx (I am not listing the numbers). I very strongly suspect a scam.

Just got a call. It was a recording saying I was the first.....then disconnected.  Put them on call block.
It doesn't do any good to have your number on the do not call list because they still call.

I spoke w/ the called - he admits that he is not from DC.... He admired that he is in India. And he admired that it's a scam.   He makes $100 per month making these calls and he needs it to feed his family which I believe

Jennifer: my ex-boyfriend?
Travis: Yes.
Jennifer hands me the phone: Honey, There's a man on the phone that say's he's my Ex-Bofriend!
Steve: Hello, who is this?
Travis: This is Travis. May I speak to Jennifer?
Steve: Jennifer is unavailable.
Travis: I didn't call you.
Steve: You didn't call me? I know I didn't call you.
Travis: I called this number to talk to Jennifer.
Steve: Jennifer is unavailable.
Travis: I know she's there.
Steve: You're not going to talk to her.
Travis: [***] You! <Click>

Guy was insistent about grant money, said I read about the scam on Internet and hung up

I was Called about being 1 of 10 people selected by the US department of health and human services. Gave them a fake name. They wanted a $250 activation fee to be paid to get the money. They didn't want it in cash or check, but in preloaded itunes gift cards. Obvious scam, and I caught them in several lies. They called me at 7pm EST, the real office closes at 5pm EST. Hung up on me when I asked them about that.

receive 2 calls today, i ignored the first and answered the 2nd. they hung up. i called back and had the recording that is wasn't a working number. saving number to my block list.

Also received a call from 202-657-5198. Was told to call 202-684-2551 to collect my 92000.00 dollars. What a crock of [***]. People nothing is a give me except death and taxes.

I just had this call awhile ago & talk to an indian guy name Benny Jones ... I even wrote down the verification number SA107 & was told to call 202-684-2551.I ask him is this for real?& he replied wouldn't it be real if his talking to me that long & explaining what i must supposed to do so i could get the $9,200 money grant from the Federal Reserved Bank...i was like...if this is true,i could pay my bills.& then i call that number,& the guy told me (which is the accountant supervisor) i have to go to the nearest store like walgreens,rite-aid or any convenient store close to me & get an itunes gift certificate to activate it & call them back for a possibility of getting a cash back of $198.00.i was stunned by the moment of the money talk but i got the reality here...so i told him,you wanted me to go the store & buy an itunes gc which as a matter of fact right now that i have nothing because i am so broke ... I couldn't even afford to buy my food ,what more to purchase a itunes gc????

I just received the call from 202-657-5198. Thick mid-eastern voice said he wanted to speak to me(called my name). In a very gruff voice I said "what do you want". Said he wanted to F*** my wife. I told him he would have to go F*** himself first. Hung up on me !!! Made my day.

got a call from someone at this number with a thick accent he asked for devil I said there is no devil her he said sorry to bother u I said u should be [***] and he called back I didn't answer

Scammer. Once I heard that I received a grant for $9,200 I hung up. I don't think the government is doing enough to protect us from this Bull****
