The person on the other end promised to first send a grant check of a certain amount of money to me(I know the amount, I just feel better not typing it). when I didn't receive the check that was supposed to have been sent priority mail to me I called to find out why they say that they sent the check to the wrong Mary Touby(sorry, but there's only one person in the US with that name) they then said they'd send someone to me so I could get the money, they were a no show. Now they want money from a disabled wartime veteran to give said veteran the money I was promised. need to know if this is a scam that needs reporting or the real deal.

I promise this is not real. My husband got the same call. If you get any more calls from this number or anyother number. You can call your local police and check it out with them. There is also the IRS call that says they are coming to arrest you because of owed taxes. The first phone call is most of the time automated. First and foremost the IRS will not call you. They will send you a letter. Also no one is coming to arrest you. They make a second phone call stating they are a local police station and they are coming to pick you up. This is a scare tactic  please don't give them any Information just hang up and call your local police.
