These people (indian accent) has been calling since last few months identifying them as Investigation officer and threating me and telling that there have been complaints of tax fraud against me. I don't understand why FBI is not doing against such scams. They are using VOIP internet phones so the caller ID would give US Trasury (202-632-5000), IRS (888-104) or some (412) or (415) are code numbers. They want you to send money. Someone should really get hold of Vonage and other VOIP providers and get hold of these people.

I have been getting the same calls with these ridiculous false claims. I just ignore....they will get tired.
I hope that people dont fall for these scammers.

I got the same call and harassment from this number with Indian accent. They said they are the IRSS? With an S? What? I know it's fraud so I ordered chicken masala to irritate them and they answered they have potato

Said they were from the crime investigation department and i had been sued and they had sent out 3 notices to which i had not responded and could have to pay upto $45,000 in penalty if i do not get this resolved. I called the FBI and they asked me to call the fedreal trade burea. VOIP, like vonage needs to be stopped

I just received the same exact same call as the prior poster, they can't even speak English! I was about to call the FBI as well, when I noticed this prior post. Thanks for saving me the time. This is what you get out of the Target Credit card Breach!!

Just got the same call, I started asking for information (somewhat yelling) and he just hung up, I called back and he said that he got scared of me because I was yelling. Wow... my kids don't give a darn about me yelling and "the federal agent" got scared, so I responded that he should try another career becuase acting is definitely not for him. He hung up, I hope for good this time.

Caller with an East Indian accent left a message on my machine claiming to be an investigator named "Brandon Taylor".  Said there was a legal case against me, and that my "name and identity are under investigation."  Didn't say who he worked for, just mentioned some generic-sounding investigation department.  He finished by saying I needed to call him at 202 697-9018 or yada yada yada blah blah blah.  Funny thing is, my caller id shows 989 811-2424.

James Wilson with a VERY HEAVY Indian accent demanded to speak to my employer. ID'd himself as being from the Federal Criminal Investigation Bureau. Got very angry when I told him he could not speak to him and I would take a message for him. He spoke in a very assertive tone that this was about a legal affidavit and was time sensitive and that the call HAD to be returned ASAP.

I just got the same call, a guy with an Indian accent identified himself with the State Deptment of criminal Investigations, calling from Washington DC. He said there have been criminal complaints against me, my husband and daughter.  I told him to tell me what they were and he told me 4 counts, I couldn't understand him clearly.  When I started asking him questions, he told me to quit intererupting him.  I asked when I was notified about the IRS claims he said they sent 3 certified letters and we didn't respond.  I told him he lied because we always answer letters from IRS.  He was telling me he was going to send officers tonight and I said go ahead.  He called my daughter last week and scared her, because he told her officers were coming to arrest her, but if she could make the payment right now he could get them to stop.  Geez.

My wife got the same call as above, could only understand a few words of what they said, my wife told them, that she was going to call the police and then hung up on them. They told her the same thing about tax fraud, forged checks, bukt they blew with the tax, since as her husband  I do the taxes so they would want me and we know the IRS would send a letter.  Maybe we should start calling them and telling then they are being investigated or just call and hang up, drive them nuts.

Same here. I called the tel# 2026979018. He had a clear Indian / [***] accent but trying to sound local. I told him "the call is being recorded" to deter him from entering into any conversation but he was not scred. Ia sked him his ID# and he gave me a 32 digit number. i asked him his badge# and he gave me a 27 digit number. I asked his street address and he said "1111, Constitution Av.". I again said I am recoding the converstaion. Then I asked him 'What does he want" at that he dropped off the line.
These criminals need to be investiagted and punished harshly so that no one else would care to resort to such mischief. Thanks.

I got a call today claiming to be from Federal Bureau of Crime Investigation threatening action.asking callback on 202-690-9018.
I called back thrice; every time the same person new names.
When cross questioned either hung up and finally challenged that "you won't be able to do a thing  against me. I am from Pakistan". I guess he figured from my accent.

These VOIP calls need to monitored and controlled. Hope no one falls for these scammers.

I also got the same call.. He said his name is john Stewart from department of I don't know.

I've gotten about 5 calls from these people now! Two in the last 10 min.. about 3 minutes apart. He left a voice message twice because I didn't pick up. The first message was him mumbling something I couldn't understand and at the very end he just said please return the phone call. The second time he called while I was repeating the first message because I couldn't  understand, and the second message he left was of him SINGING in a foreign language! So I called back from work and I asked who they were and he said they were the Federal Bureau of Crime, I asked him to spell crime because it sounded like he said "time" and he spelled it C as in Charlie R and in Robert I as in Indigo N as in November, E. I said Crine? With an N and he's like no M, what do you want? And I said I have a missed call from this number, he said okay let me look it up. I never gave him my name and I called from a different number so I wasn't sure how he was going to give me any information and obviously by now I knew it was all BS! So I simply said "Can you please get me off of your call list or let me speak to a manager?" and he said " No need to beesh okay!" and hung up on me. Tried calling back cus he just really pissed me off, and he just never answered.

Got the exact same thing. Called my Cox communications to try to see if it was legit, but after being transferred 3 times, was told they couldn't do anything about it (although they do have a "fraud" dept.) I will contact my local police. It's kind of funny that the best help I seem to be able to get when I'm not sure if I can trust someone calling me (this happened once before about a year ago with someone else) is by simply googling the number from the caller id. I just received a voicemail saying I am under investigation.  His accent was so heavy that's all I really could understand from the message.

My son got the same call and harassment from 202 697 9018, a guy with an Indian accent identified himself with IRS calling from Washington DC. They wanted my son to send them money or he gets attested. My son almost had an accident with his car because they wanted him to stay on the call while he is driving.
