No number showed up in caller ID.  The caller claimed to be from the IRS and that I was going to be sued for taxes.
They gave me this number to call back and pay up.  I looked the number up on another service and was told that the number was Viop and located in Hyattsville, MD.

I just had the same thing happen to me today.

Got the voicemail message about a lawsuit.  Called back, told me they were the IRS and were suing me over back taxes.

Asked for a supervisor: "We don't have one"  At the IRS? Please.

Asked for my casefile number: "We don't have one."  Seriously.

Finally said, "You're not really the IRS are you?"  "No."

Sounds like  a scam to me.

Total scam.  Asked for confirmation they worked at Dept of Treasury, I.R.S.  They responded "yes."  I asked for his employee ID, he rattled off some letters and digits convincingly enough.  I asked which IRS building he worked at - he replied "1-1-1-1- Constitution Avenue"  This was the first real problem as everyone calls this building "Eleven Eleven."  They I asked if by chance he worked on the 8th Floor... pause, then a feint "yes."  I asked him to confirm that, then it was a more firm yes.  I then mentioned that I formerly worked at 1111 Constitution on the third floor (true) but thought his response was interesting as the building only has 6 floors.  He hung up.

Caller left a message saying we were being sued by the IRS and needed to call this # for more info.

Got a call from this number - could barely understand them!  I have a friend who works at the IRS and all their #'s are 800 #'s.  I totally fell for it until I realized the IRS would never demand payment in full or I would be arrested the next day.  DO NOT GIVE THEM ANY PERSONAL INFO.  Instead ask to speak to a supervisor and say you will have to call them back.

We received a phone call from this number saying that it is the IRS and that we are being sued.

My 91 year old mother received a message from an unknown number telling her to call the 202-697-9892 or she would be sued for unpaid taxes. She is in a retirement community in Jacksonville, FL. Please help put a stop to this outrageous scam.

Received a message to call the Internal Revenue Service final warning being sued unsettling message after work didn't call back and looked it up

Received the same type of phone call today.  Glad I can block numbers on my phone.

just received same phone call.....on my Mother's phone....she is deceased and all taxes had been filed by the executor of the estate.......

If you listen closely the recording actually says "Internal Revenue Service(s)"  Not Service.  I think that's how they get away w/ the scam.

Foreign accents telling me the sheriff is coming to get me to take me to court.  IRS is sueing me for back taxes.  Yeah right, I work for IRS!!

My mother age 68 rec a phone call with the msg that they were IRS and were going to sue her for back taxes.  SHe doesnt have any owed back taxes.  I just rec the same phone call.  Caller ID on my cell said unavailable but same phone number as my mom got.  TOTAL SCAM 202-697-9892

Could not understand the person on the line but he had all my information but could not confirm they were the irs so I hung up

Contacted about IRS lawsuit. Directed to call 202-697-9892. Criminal behavior pattern. Likely off shore VoIP using false Wasington DC phone number. Recommend locate IP and active collection

Is there really an American citizen who cannot manage to spell Washington?

I received the same call. They said it was for years 2008-2015. I told them to contact my ex-husband because I filed jointly with him. 2015 - really? I haven't filed for that year!
