Got a missed call from this number. Called back and says number is out of service.

Caller ID says Untd St Govt. They never leave a message. Says out of service when I called back.

202-728- is not a regular Department of State exchange.  Probably spoofers.

I also received a call from this number. However, I didn't pick up fast enough and the person didn't leave a message.

I just got a call from it from someone I know who works in the State Department.  I think it's one of those generic outgoing numbers that government buildings and some businesses have.  If you want to call them back, you have to find the number of the person who called you (even if you could connect to this number, they would have no idea who in the building called you).

I just received a call from the same number.  Someone needs to investigate to see exactly who this is....it's ridiculous.  When people call your phone, they should state who they are.

Concur with Chatham.  A generic outgoing number for DOS.

My mom works for the Dept. of State.  They reroute their outgoing call numbers to this number.  Even though it it is not one of the usual 202-647 numbers you see it is from the DOS.

No message left.  If it is State (barf), why are they calling me?  I know no one there nor would I want to.

I had the same call it was from the national passport center

I got a call from this number and they said it was jean clempson from the state department, but he did not say why he was calling, plus I run a tanning salon in LA, so I have no Idea why they would want to talk to me, I called the 1-800 number for the sate and asked to talk to jean clempson at the state department, and they said they had no one there by that name, weird

Some one probably used your phone number or adress on a visa application to enter the U.S.

 The State Dept is supposed to check all references on the forms

Got a call today December 04, 2012 from this number too but no message was left. The caller ID said the United States Government, I'm not that concerned because I'm Canadian and have no business with them.
