Why do these people keep calling me trying to get me to buy a greendot money pack card and put 250$ on it to receive the cash grant she told me that I had to load it for the money to transfer through but they wont take it it will still be on the card? Can you clear my name im already going through identity theft here in Seattle WA.

I received a call from the U.S. Federal Grants Dept today telling that I was chosen to receive a grant for $7800.00 but I had to go to Walmart and buy a Customer Money Back Voucher and then load it with $250.00 and then call them back and with this claim number and they would then load the grant money to it. I called the number back and some guy answers and says that it's the U.S. Federal Grants Dept but I'm not buying into it.

I also received a call for a grant with the same instructions. Is this a scam?

Was called and told Health and Human Services gave me a grant of up to $7,000. All I had to do was go to Walmart. I got that far and said ok. I'm there now. So I went to Customer Service they told me to go to Money Services. I went there and the woman told me flat out. It sounds like a scam. They wanted me to do a green dot card? and deposit $250. So Walmart had no CLUE about it at all. Made me feel good that I was right there to check it out. BLOCK THIS NUMBER 202-738-1511.

Called me told me I was going to get a grant. Never applied for one of these grants. My name was randomly selected..

they say that there is a us grant just call back the number and give the id number sounds like a scam.

I received a call this morning about the same story everyone here. The guy who called told me to get the green dot money back in the amount of $150, then to call 202-738-1511 to confirmed the transaction. The person on other line was a women when I called that number.  So I went to the Walgreens to ask them about this green dot money, and how it works. I knew something was fishy. And it was, no body or government would give you $7800.00 for no apparently reason. That was the grant I was told to be deposited into the card. I didn't get the card or anything. Sound like a scam.

I got a call from this number, a woman humming, and then some singing, more humming, and then they hung up. It sounded just like me so I was really freaked out, until I typed the number in - 202-738-151 - and saw people were getting scam calls from this number. I was really scared until I realized it is just a grants ploy. I thought someone was playing a scary game with me. I hate these people. The government should be able to trace this and prosecute these people, not just warn about grant scams!

I got the Call alot but?  Has anyone done it put the money on the card n got the money?

Stole a hundred fifty dollars from my account

Got a phone call and talked to a guy by the name ofJohn Carter And he said the same thing but never said anything about me putting money on the card.  Said i got chose for this grant because i had no police record and some other qualifications.

Honestly, the best way to handle scammers, is to tell them to speak slowly and clearly because you record all your business type phone calls for legal reasons. They'll NEVER call you back!! ; )

I thought my children's x mas was going to be amazing... I had my debit card stolen a few days ago and I have no means to provide a Christmas for my 4 children.. I'm a single 25 year old mother of four! And this broke my heart!!!! =(

Exact thing happened to me. Except they wanted, $150.....

I received a call from an unknown number and when answered, I was told I had been selected to receive a government grant...however to receive the grant I had to pay $200+. This is a scam...DO NOT DO IT.

Did u buy the card? I got a call from the same person. My issue was, how did they get my number... I recently changed services and my new number is not in my name...
I wanted to try it, but being so close to Christmas, I couldn't risk losing 150.00

I received the same kind of call, in fact I talked to two different people- John Carter and Maria Williams. Both with heavy accents and very hard to understand. They said that I was approved for a grant, and I just had to buy a money dot card and load 150$ onto it to increase the amt they can transfer onto the card. Then call back the 2027381511 and they would tell me what to do. I asked if they could send me something in the mail.... They said they couldn't. I don't even know how they got my phone number its not even in my name.

I called the number, interested in what they said, and no one answered.
I'm glad I didn't put $ on the card, it wouldve devestated Christmas!
