Calls me telling me I'm in tax troubles and that I will be incarcerate.  Recorded message.

Recorded message saying there are four serious allegations against me and that I should return the call or local police will come after me.

Keeps calling me as well saying there are serious allegations on me.

Caller saying i have 24 hours to return the call or local police will come after me for out standing tax 202-765-2885

They told me I had to pay $1000 and if i didn't have the money they would send the local police after me ... Everyone go to the irs website and report it ASAP

My call was an automated voice threatening in nonsensical grammar the same threat at Lynn stated, 4 allegations against me and if I don't respond they will send the "local cops" to arrest me. The message started before our answering device picked up so we don't even know who they're after. What a sloppy hoax!

There told me the same thing so scary

Lady on phone I'd company I was calling as I.r.s. investigations dept, I hung up on her. 7 am

Recording on my voice mail stating that I have 24 hours to contact them or the local "cops" will take me into custody regarding 4 alligations against my name 202-765-2885

Got the same message local cops coming to get me.. Weird

Got a message of home phone saying I owe tax money and if not paid in 24 hrs , sending the cops after us

Auto caller--It was the "IRS" saying I was in trouble for my tax returns.   4 alligations also, Local police would come and take me away. I heard about this scam; I just hope all the other older people it the word about this scam.  People call your elders and let them know about scams.

WASHINGTON — The Internal Revenue Service today warned consumers about a sophisticated phone scam targeting taxpayers, including recent immigrants, throughout the country.

Victims are told they owe money to the IRS and it must be paid promptly through a pre-loaded debit card or wire transfer. If the victim refuses to cooperate, they are then threatened with arrest, deportation or suspension of a business or driver’s license. In many cases, the caller becomes hostile and insulting.

“This scam has hit taxpayers in nearly every state in the country.  We want to educate taxpayers so they can help protect themselves.  Rest assured, we do not and will not ask for credit card numbers over the phone, nor request a pre-paid debit card or wire transfer,” says IRS Acting Commissioner Danny Werfel. “If someone unexpectedly calls claiming to be from the IRS and threatens police arrest, deportation or license revocation if you don’t pay immediately, that is a sign that it really isn’t the IRS calling.” Werfel noted that the first IRS contact with taxpayers on a tax issue is likely to occur via mail
Other characteristics of this scam include:
Scammers use fake names and IRS badge numbers. They generally use common names and surnames to identify themselves.
Scammers may be able to recite the last four digits of a victim’s Social Security Number.
Scammers spoof the IRS toll-free number on caller ID to make it appear that it’s the IRS calling.
Scammers sometimes send bogus IRS emails to some victims to support their bogus calls.
Victims hear background noise of other calls being conducted to mimic a call site.
After threatening victims with jail time or driver’s license revocation, scammers hang up and others soon call back pretending to be from the local police or DMV, and the caller ID supports their claim.
If you get a phone call from someone claiming to be from the IRS, here’s what you should do:
If you know you owe taxes or you think you might owe taxes, call the IRS at 1.800.829.1040. The IRS employees at that line can help you with a payment issue – if there really is such an issue.
If you know you don’t owe taxes or have no reason to think that you owe any taxes (for example, you’ve never received a bill or the caller made some bogus threats as described above), then call and report the incident to the Treasury Inspector General for Tax Administration at 1.800.366.4484.
You can file a complaint using the FTC Complaint Assistant; choose “Other” and then “Imposter Scams.” If the complaint involves someone impersonating the IRS, include the words “IRS Telephone Scam” in the notes.
Taxpayers should be aware that there are other unrelated scams (such as a lottery sweepstakes) and solicitations (such as debt relief) that fraudulently claim to be from the IRS.
The IRS encourages taxpayers to be vigilant against phone and email scams that use the IRS as a lure. The IRS does not initiate contact with taxpayers by email to request personal or financial information.  This includes any type of electronic communication, such as text messages and social media channels. The IRS also does not ask for PINs, passwords or similar confidential access information for credit card, bank or other financial accounts. Recipients should not open any attachments or click on any links contained in the message. Instead, forward the e-mail to phishing@irs.gov.

Same as other. Voicemail saying there were 4 serious allegations against me and i should call back before they go to the police.

Just got call on cell phone stating I had several allegations against me and the local police will be after me,  I called the number back and asked who they were and she stated IRS Investigations,  I stated the IRS would not call and to please send the allegations in writing and then I hung up.

First off why foreigners calling me about tax money I never received telling me I filed taxes from 2011-2012 nooo had a lean didn't start back until 2014 its a scam why not go after the tax preparer 24,000 dollars that's absolutely absurd I work hard and take care of my fam never been an incarcerated black man a day in my life I live right obey the laws I have to much at risk so why would I dare to try get over on the government so Mike Foster So called Senior officer you have a good day ill be here waiting cause I'm not scared.

I am receiving the same calls and I am not sure if this is true or not.  But they are telling me I will be arrested.

Same automated call...made me giggle. Sad that anyone would think it is real.

this is a scam, the federal government does not do business this was.  If you owe them they have to give it to you in writing with appeals and dispute rights.
