got a call from this number.  there is a discussion going on here: https://800notes.com/Phone.aspx/1-202-769-1137 looks like it's 'political' survey scam.

From "Consumer Energy Alliance".  
Sounds like a lobbyist group (Community Stragegies) working for the oil industry.
Asked if gas prices were too high and if energy independence was important.

Said TransCanada is applying for new permit and can they add me to list (no).

Used statistics that have been proven false (100,000 new jobs for XL Pipeline).

Got 2 messages.  Said that it was a political survey.

Two calls from this number. Recorded message left said "This was a political survey call. We may call back later."

Just went to the Do Not Call National Registry, where our phone numbers have been on file in their database for 5 years and put in a complaint.

Everyone please do this! If there are enough complaints about calls from this number, they will do something about it!

However, your number must have already been in database for 31 days before you can file a complaint.

But if you're in there already, file a complaint! If not, register your number so you can file in the future!

As much as I wish they were, Political organizations are not banned from calling phone numbers on the Do Not Call list.  They are not technically "solicitors," and therefore are not barred from calling.

Here is the rule as listed by the Do Not Call List registry:

"Are calls from political organizations or calls soliciting for charities covered?
Political solicitations ARE NOT COVERED (caps added for emphasis) by the TSR at all, since they are not included in its definition of “telemarketing.” Charities are not covered by the requirements of the national registry. However, if a third-party telemarketer is calling on behalf of a charity, a consumer may ask not to receive any more calls from, or on behalf of, that specific charity. If a third-party telemarketer calls again on behalf of that charity, the telemarketer may be subject to a fine of up to $16,000 ."

DO NOT CALL LISTS do not work for political, religious, or companies with which you have done business and their affiliates.   You can get angry, frustrated,  and vent  as long as you want, but the robo callers don't mind.   The organizations using this method set the message, set machine and it talks its little tape or recorded message  to anyone dumb enough to stay on line.

Personally, I have ID box (supplied by telephone company years ago)  on incoming line before calls go to my  all in one printer  and then to base of my cordless phones.    See the out-of-area, no name given, all zeros, 800 numbers, 866 numbers  and  I do not pick up phone.   At age 83, don't hear as good as earlier years, so ringing does not bother me.

Listen to any recorded message on my own time, and delete.   And having bundled Comcast,  can easily delete voice without having to listen.   Give yourself a break and pass along to your friends.    I also have certain numbers blocked (12 by comcast).   Since I am veteran, do lot of browsing, and am officer to several veteran organizations  I do pick up lot of stray calls.  BUT I DON'T HAVE TO LISTEN, AND I DON'T LET IT RAISE MY BLOOD PRESSURE.

What ever floats your boat.    Have a good day, and remember when the talking parrots on cable get done, we only have two major choices to make for president in November.   Four more years (yuck)   or Romney and if you don't know about him,  google his name and read wikipedia reports.  All referenced and documented, and he has been a manager-organizer-advisor- and people oriented since age 6.  Something our present administration cannot compare with.   SO THEY SLEAZE.

I punched Political Call  -   And the call from 202 769 1137 was energy related.

I wish it were otherwise, but "survey" calls of this type are not covered under the "Do Not Call" registry.
There is nothing you can do to stop it. The best you can do is ignore it or answer and hang up.

Robocallers have been illegal since September 1, 2009. Any exemptions to the DNC law are null and void and subject to the DNC law once you directly tell them to place you on their DNC list.

It is a survey and they have called twice with no way to get my number off their list.
