They claim there is a government grant for me of 9,000.00...but in order for me to register with the federal trade commission I have to purchase a 250.00 itunes card???? what the heck is this? Is this a scam? I would like to report them if it is.  I told her I am not buying anything to register with the federal trade commision.

No it's not a scam. Also Santa Claus stands at street corners giving out $100 bills every day.  Just not on the days you happen to be passing. Believe what you will.

Wanted me to go to Western Union to pick up $9,250. Of which I was supposed to use $250. To buy gift card and the rest was my grant.
    Scam.
Grants are not randomly awarded, you. Have to apply. Also, they don't ask for bank or credit card info.

I received a call from an unknown number stating I'm eligible for federal grant for $9,000 and they wanted to know how best to give it to me - money gram or directly in my bank account. When asked what the parameters where around the grant she again asked me how I wish to receive it. Never said where they were calling from. So I asked to call back and she gave me a money confirmation number and this 202-780-5896 number and emphasized that I must call this number back.

Hey, look folks.  Two positive posts in three minutes.  The scammers are obviously monitoring the site and hoping their ridiculous posts will fool people into believing the scam is real.  Like the Government will cold call you to tell you you have got a grant.  If there was such a thing they would write and there would be lots of hoops to jump through before you got it.  Do you think the government would ask you to collect such a grant from Wells Fargo or buy an iTunes voucher to pay charges??  These thieving Asians must think Americans are stupid.
