It's the Republican National Committee, and they've done this to me as well. Unfortunately for them my cell phone number is on the national Do Not Call registry and they've now been reported to the feds for violating that (I've been on the registry for well over 31days). If you want to manually remove yourself from their "spam" calls, dial their membership services line at 202-863-8743 and give them your number.
Just got an automated call going on about Obama the terrorist, socialist end of the world blah blah blah. I'm on the Indiana no call list too and will report them. This is pretty low, *and* pretty insulting that they think some automated fear mongering recording is actually going to influence my vote...
Same as Ed, I got the "Obama is a terrorist" call - This doesn't smack of desperation! I'm in Indiana too, but mine wasn't a robo-call though. It was an actual person. A lady who could barely keep her sentences together. I stayed with her until she finished, just to see if she could. She did, even though she had to start over a few times. At the end I just said 'Wow'.
I just got a highly offensive - unsolicited call from this number. It was automated about how Obama has close ties with terrorists. Do they think people are really that stupid? I called back the number, talked to the "legal" dept. (option 8) and told them to remove me from their list....permanently!
Got the same call while I was on the other line. The only terrorist I see here is the RNC, disseminating lies and fear. With this type of agenda and campaign I hope these people are wholesale swept from office. It's like they took a page from the National Socialist party of Germany and adopted it as their playbook. I couldn't get anyone on the other end of this call so as to voice my displeasure, but my one little vote will certainly not be going to any Republican as long as they choose to employ fear tactics to divert the masses while they further line the pockets of the rich at the expense of the other 98% of America.
I live in Missouri and just received the message that was left on my answering machine. Has this been reported to anyone who can take legal actions? I know it's just a scare tactic.. the Republicans are more desperate than ever. However.. there are enough 'not so bright' people in this world that it could sway their thinking the wrong direction. I'd like to know if it's been reported.. and if not who could I report it too. The message actually gave me the phone number that's posted here.. and said it was paid for by the McCain-Palin campaign and the RNC. This is beyond dirty politics
This is jan again. I posted the above message 2 hours ago.. and had called a friend of mine who came over and listened to the message on my answering machine. She just called and said that the message is now being broadcast on the national news and is being reported as a pitiful scare tactic. So.. it appears it will be nipped in the bud! I do hope that's the end of it. I wish I had seen the segment myself.. but I was watching the news on another channel. Anyway.. hopefully those calls will be stopped. Keeping my fingers crossed!
In my humble opinion.. this is far worse than the 2004 'swift boat' attacks that cost Kerry the nomination. Islamic terrorists? Shame on them. The sad thing is that there are still a lot of people out there that will believe this kind of thing. The best thing we can do is spread the word!
I received a call as well. Amazing since I live in Arizona....not a fan of McCain. Not a fan of his past behavior with the Lincoln savings and loan....WTF? he's gone to a level that is not ADDRESSING THE ISSUES of the state of the economy!!
