just got called from this number

so did I and they're telling me how much money I still owe on my macy's 'account  the problem is I have NEVER had a macy's account in the first place what I did have was a macys gift card, and that's how they got my phone number and assumed I had an account with them ,someone from the inside is supplying them with the phone numbers, tha's how I know it's a scam , I can't believe some people actually believe they are calling from the real store because they used to have an account with macys at one time or another .IT'S A SCAM, DON'T SEND ANY MONEY .

Just got a call from this number on my cell phone and the caller ID said Citibank Washington, DC but when I called it back it's just been busy. They left no message. F.Y.I if they were legit and really calling from a store best believe they are gonna leave a message

The number is a SPOOFed caller id, it is used for Citibank, Macys, Mortgage SCAMs, Lower your credit card. Why can't all the phone companies prevent callers from spoofing a fake caller id. It can be done and then the real caller id will come through and we can then call them back to bust their chops for once.

My call was telling me that if I was behind on my mortgage or my interest rate was above 7% that I might be a victum of preditory lending and they can help.   They made it sound like they were calling from the Federal government.

I just got a call from this number as well on my cell #. Did not pick up because the area code was not familiar. They did not leave a message. I google it and it comes up to Oklahoma. Just made a report to DONOTCALL. ORG.

I got a call from this number on my cell. They told me also that I was behind with my mortgage ... BWAHAHAHA... I do not own a home ... never have ... I live in my dad's house. I am reporting those people as spammers so they better not call me ever again.

Received a call from them twice today.  I did not answer because I am at work and didn't recognize the number.  No Voice Mail left.  I googled and the number comes up as Washington DC.

Called my cell at work. Remember, these a55h0l3s count your losing your job, customers, or control of your vehicle and crashing while trying to answer them as a win, too.

Just called my cell. I did not answer, no message.

They just called my cell i didn't answer, no message was left.

I got a call from this number at my home and cell.  They claimed they were Police Protection Services.  When I attempted to call back, there wasn't an answer.

They called my cell phone. Did not answer as I have everyone's number saved in my contacts--including debt collection lines. They did not leave a message. I live in Maryland about an hour outside of DC where the number supposedly originated. Googled the number in case it was someone with whom I had done business (or to whom I do owe money) but found this thread instead. For anyone who has not had the pleasure of falling behind on bills, etc., ALL legitimate collection agencies and past due bill departments for a store such as Macy's will leave a message. They will clearly identify themselves, whom they are trying to reach, and a return number with a reference number or extension.
For those who do not know, if a caller says you owe money to a company with whom you do business, simply call the number on the back of your card or billing statement. They will tell you if there is an issue with your account. I hope this helps even one person.

I just got a call from this number moments ago. I didn't pick up since I didn't recognize the number. Figured if it was legit, he would leave a voicemail. Also, I have an app on my phone that helps me to identify unknown numbers. It came up as Scott Frederick. I googled his name and this number. I found only one Scott Frederick on LinkedIn in the Washington D.C. area. It said he works in Venture Capital & Private Equity.

I also got a call from 202-879-4170 from Washington DC. I have the new IOS operating system on my iphone and I was able to block that caller. Just go into phone and hit the recents button then hit the blue information icon to the right of the number, then scroll all the way down and hit Block caller. Done!
