tax scam

I have received multiple calls stating that I am suspected of tax evasion.  Must call to avoid action....

Message was recorded so the first part of it was cut off until my greeting had stopped playing.  Said something about tax evasion and calling before being arrested by local authorities. Gotta be a scam!

Here is the message I received from Melvin.

“Hi this is Melvin Patrick with tax audit Department of Internal Revenue Service. This is a notification about the legal but the agent note is concerning an activation again tonight. So before this matter gets to the federal(?) claims court. He get arrested by the local authorities. You can reach us at 2037011071. I repeat 2037011071. Get more information regarding the case before there's an red flag against your social. Thank you.”

Call from Melvin Vetter? that he represents the Tax Audit Dept of IRS and local authorities will arrest me for tax evasion and I must call 203-701-1071. This was first call. I see many complants on internet about this number in Milford, CT?

Definitely a scam.  The IRS does not make phone calls and they do not send emails.  If you get a letter that states that it is from the IRS take it to a tax professional to determine whether or not it is genuine.  They are also using the number 888-369-8791.  Please do not respond to these calls in any way.
