- nooneI have yet to answer this, but I believe it is RBC.
- Auntie ClotildeCalled me yesterday but left no message. My Caller ID showed "Manitoba" as the caller name.
- Caller: ???
- confused| 2 repliesI just got a call from them and at first a girl answered and asked for my name and then all of a sudden it was a guy on the line and identified themselves as someone from RBC. They proceeded to ask me if I was available and I said no and they said they would call back another time and hung up.
So odd.- Caller: RBC (?)
- Debbie| 1 replyThey called here, asked for my son BY NAME (sounded automated) and when I handed him the phone, they hung up. Odd. When I called the # back was an automated message that said they were a company named (sounded like) Famtel Solutions a marketing and customer service company to other companies in a variety of fields, including banking, telemarketing and insurance companies. They also give you the option to put your # on their do not call list.
- Caller: Famtel Solutions
- JB| 1 replyNumber constantly calls here, Phone rings 3 or 4 times, cause they know after the 5th ring our answering machine picks up. If they do not have the courtesy to add their name to the phone number and wants to be "unknown name", then we (our household, including the people who board here) do not have the courtesy to answer it. Our number has been put on the do not call list and if this continues we will have no resort than to report them as harassment calls.
- Dave replies to JBThe number that is 204-289-0964 is in Manitoba Canada, I received a call from it at 10:26 am Ontario time. I did not answer it knowing it would be a telemarketer, like so many other numbers I do not know. I am trying to run a business and find it hard to get work done with all these crappy interruptions. I am not going to pay long distance charges to call them to tell them to not call me again. They may get the message if I never answer and finally leave me the H*LL alone!!!!!
- Coyote Fox replies to DebbieSamtel Solutions......telemarketer
- Edith replies to ValerieThey just called me looking for my boyfriend. Said they were royal bank of canada.
- AnnoyedLady called and ask for a certain member of family, and I said they're not home right now would you like to leave a message, and it directed to what sounded like a automated message, they said "hi my name is steven baker im from rbc calling...." but when you reply stop calling, their response is quick and they say sorry, and continue to say they're from RBC.... It's a scam
- MelissaThey keep calling me as well! He said he was calling from ¿samtel? On behalf of RBC. Everytime I tried to say something it just kept talking so I assume its a recording. I hung up on him and he just keeps calling daily!! He was trying to sell identity insurance or something. I would never give that info over the phone.
- Caller: Samtel-famtel?
- Call type: Telemarketer
- welland. replies to confusedSame exact thing. She said my name wrong so i correct her(bad idea) then some guy from rbc talked..john something). I ignored him so she got back online asked if i was still there. He continued and said goodbye.

- AnnoyedI've been getting calls from this "company" who has multiple different numbers that they call from- as I block each different number everytime they call.
They say they are calling from Samtec (sp?), and want to sell your insurance for your RBC credit card. Very pushy to sell, even when you say no. Tries to offer you a 30 day free trial, in which you have to 'send back' the insurance policy if you do not want to pay. Legit (lol).
Obviously a scam, if they call back again, I will request to be put on their "do not call" list. If they keep calling after that, I will have to report it somehow. They have a different number each time, so it's hard to just "ignore" or block just one number.
Very irritating ... would love to know how they got my number :/- Caller: Samtec
- EmployeeFamtel is a company that specialize in telecommunications marketing. RBC, Royal Band of Canada, is one of the clients that we call on behalf of. RBC hires many companies under contract to promote the products of RBC's choosing. RBC provides these companies with first and last names, phone numbers, and addresses of card holders they wish to have called. No other information is shared with Famtel, but I cannot speak for the other companies.
The products that Famtel may call you about include but are not limited to Info Protector and Credit Alert. Both of these products are linked to on the RBC website, along with the means to get any and all information about these products. As for fear of fraudulence, these are legitimate offers being made, and at no point is any banking or confidential information requested.
The flow of the calls you may receive from Famtel follows this order:
Introduction (Famtel employee informs you who is calling)
Sorter (leads to the product explanation, asks if you have measures to protect yourself from identity theft (Info Protector)/ if you have seen a copy of your credit report recently from either one of the credit bureaus (Credit Alert))
Pitch (the product is now described, questions/concerns are welcome, will tell you that in order for you to begin your free trial you need to verify your first and last name)
Address verification (the welcome packages/ credit report and score are sent by physical mail, Info Protector can be sent to an address not on file if requested, but Credit Alert can only be sent to the address on file as it has confidential/ personal information included)
*Date of Birth (only for Credit Alert as you can not request a credit report for "Name", but need to make sure that it is indeed for the right person, thus the need for a DoB)
Enroll (here the product is recapped and you are asked to give your permission to start your service in the product you are being called for)
*Enroll 2 (only for Credit Alert, asked for you permission for the provider of Credit Alert, being Intersections Inc., to obtain a copy of your credit report for your review, which is an automated process so that your information remains private and confidential)
End (you are thanked for you time, welcomed to the service, and the call promptly ends)
Personally, I am genuinely surprised that none of your concerns have been previously addressed by either an employee of RBC or Famtel, and for that I do apologize. Hopefully this helps to clear up some the the confusion, and if you should have any further questions, please, do not hesitate to ask.- Caller: Famtel on behalf of RBC
