phone rings, I pick up, I say, hello ? no one answers, I hang up and dial the number back and get a busy signal always

This is actually some local switchboard that re-routes international calls.  I get calls from a friend who is in South Africa right now and it shows up on the call display as a local call from 480-9170.

So the number itself is harmless, however, people calling through it might not be.

Hi!  This number is used by SKYPE when someone is calling you from a computer on the web for example.

The number was rented out by Bell Canada to a third party.  They tell you that you have won something and to press 1.  They are just trying to sell you something.  The last two times that they called me and I got a human on the other end I gave them a blast from a whistle.  Funny, no more calls.

I got a call from this #, they said they were UPS, and that I had outstanding charges from the Canadian Revenue for an international package, they left an 866-836-4875 # to call back. The scary part is the invoice # they used is from an old package that was sent almost a full year ago. I spoke with UPS and they are now aware of the situation.

I found a number from another web site to call that belongs to Bell and they will forward the request not to call to this number - Bell Voice and Data - 204-480-2000

Got a call from 204-480-9170 - they were trying to offer me a lower interest rate on my existing card. In their sales pitch they quoted the wrong prime rate in Canada, and said that they have a business agreement with my bank despite having my old address. With my scam alarm going off, I hung up. Will be reporting this.

Called without asking for anybody in particular or identifying himself.  Then the idiot tried to offer me lower long distance rates.  It seems like the only people who call my landline are trying to scam me.  I might as well just get rid of the damn thing and use my cell.

I get the call from the same #, no voice message left.  I try to call back but all I get is a busy signal.  It's kind of annoying.  Can I block this number?

I just rec'd a phone call from 480-9170 on my cel and tried to call back from land line and all I got was a busy signal, and a msg that says call abandoned.  Can it be blocked?

i   am talking to a guy..supposedly from the u.s.a...was  busy and couldnt answer a different phone number he calls from.  this call showed     up local and i tried to answer it...same as his other number keeps breaking up and a bad connections..would go with a scammer from africa

I call Winnipeg from the states on a Comcast line. In Winnipeg my number doesnt show up. Instead the number 480-9170 shows up on caller ID WITH NO AREA CODE. Someone should stop misuse of this number.

I got a call on my cell phone from this number. No message was left. I did a reverse search to see who it belonged to, but it is unpublished. I tried unsucessfully to call it.

Got a call from this number and they guy was trying to tell me that he was going to lower my hydro bill next month. Claimed he was from Winnipeg Hydro.

Just received a call from this number offering to lower my Visa intrest rate. The guy wanted to "Verify" some info..I hung up and reported him to Visa..They are investigating..

Yeah i got a call last night from this number telling me i had credit card problems and do i need a lower interest rate, when i started asking him questions about where he was calling from or where he got my number he started nervously laughing and tried to get me off the phone immediatly.
