Portfolio Recovery....They are known for buying charged off dead debt that has gone years past the statutes of limitations. If anyone that has had their sol pass and they promise these people anything you may have just restarted the clock on the sol.

Best bet is that if you do not owe this debt, ask them to stop calling and they should give you an address to send a letter by certified mail to stop all calls that you do not owe the debt. Also do not agree to anything. They may even try to trick you into saying that in order to do that they need your permission to be put on a list...do not say yes...they want you to authorize them to allow their auto dialer to call driving you to give up. It is against the law for them to use autodialers without your permission and they could be fined for every single time they do this.

These people are also known to do "Hard Hit" inquiries to your credit reporting agencies such as Transunion (seems to be their favorite to start with). This is not legal if you do not owe or they know it is uncollectable past the statute of limitations, but everytime they do these hard hit inqueries is hurts your credit score.

REPORT THE DATES TIMES AND NUMBERS TO YOUR STATE ATTORNEY GENERALS OFFICE AND THE FTC,BBB.

PORTFOLIO IS KNOWN FOR LYING AND TRICKING YOU INTO RESTARTING THE SOL...HANG UP AND SEND THE LETTERS MAYBE CALL A LAWYER. THEY MAY END UP HAVING TO PAY YOU FOR THEIR UNLAWFUL ACTs.

Keep receiving calls from this number.  I have called the number numerous times and asked that they remove my number from their call list.  Instead of complying with a yes ma'am they proceeded to sarcastically say to me, "So this is not Diane?!"  NO! Please remove this number from your call list!!!!

    Somewhere In Mo
I just called the number after having received a call two days in a row.
Joseph was the name of the representative.  I told him that he is calling an incorrect number as I have no bad debts and do not want to be called.  He gave me the name of the person they are trying to reach.  This "someone" is/was married to my ex-husband.  When I told him this person is not me, he said well maybe they had this number.  I told him no way. (I have had this number for over 10 years.)  I stated that I just wanted them to know that I am reporting them to the Attorney General and I wanted him to know this.  I hung up without giving him a chance to reply.

We need to report these people.  They find someone with the same last name and just start calling.  Just wanted to add my two cents.

To quote Imus, "skunk vomit" is what they are.

i got a call on my cell phone about a debt i owed? i do own a business at the address they stated, i just opened it 10 months ago. they said i owed over $600 in utilitiy billes anfd they were trying to collect. they said it was being reported in my credit reportas of right then. they said if i paid them it would be removed 31 days after payment was made. i did not understand how i owed this bil,but to clear up my credit report i paid it. after they took my payment they read me a different name and address of the owner of the buisness.  i did not understand how they could have gotten hold of me for a debt to a previous owner of a buisness at the same location. the previous owner closed 3 years ago, so how did they get my cell phone number? i requested my monies returned they acted like i was in the wrong for paying it. they said i said i was the previous owner, i never said i was. they were very rude but said they would return my monies. we will see what happens in the next few days

I just rec'd a call from them on my cell which NOBODY had except family and very close friends.
Asked her how she got this number and her reply was "We have our ways."
I sternly told her not to ever call this number again!  We'll see what happens from here.
I do know that I'm calling my cell provider to see if I can block that number from getting through.
I pay my cell minutes - they don't!

Portfolio Recovery Associates has called me between 11pm to 4am, and I have a list of over 14 numbers that they have used automated services call from. They claim I have a debt that was paid 3 years ago, at DOUBLE what the original debt was. $75 to Walmart for crying out loud. I told them send proof of said debt, and I get threats and profanity. I am a Minnesota resident, and haven't been able to find anyone that will even recognize any issue other than telling me to simply pay my bad debt! 757/275-8578    205/453-1648, 866/279-8125, 404/921-2521, 205/588-8197, 440/580-0721, 954/622-9827, 975/110-1527, 620/860-2755, 518/207-3602, 412/282-1421, 731/256-7106, 800/772-1413, 443/313-1381, 757/275-8578....

    Fed Up
yep, they will call you night and day, mostly on old debts, I mean old like over 10 years old that have been charged off and they'll tell you you owe like 1000% the original amount due. Don't answer or talk to them. Problem is, they'll call you from about 100 different numbers ( this is only one of them), and they'll call you even ungodly times like 6 am to 11 pm. They will eventually find ever number you have and call it. Bottom feeder debt collectors

I've been getting calls from them as well. They say I owe debts that have long passed the statute of limitations and which long ago destroyed my credit rating.  It was decade-old debt from Bank of America, whom I already bailed out by virtue of years paying a 29% interest rate and then my taxes covering their predatory lending practices. What's worse, this company is saying I owe them more than the amount of the original debt. I suppose it's time for me to report them to the attorney general as well.

Portfolio Recovery is after me and my husband, they recently started calling me at work from various different numbers.  I never talk to them or confirm I am me.  I downloaded the Mr. Number app on my smart phone, and it usually identifies all the Portfolio Recovery numbers as spam.  It also gives me the option to pick up and hang up on the numbers that have called in the past - it is slightly helpful, they just keep calling with new numbers!
