A recorded message was left on my answer machine. It was rather garbled, but the following were some of the words I was able to understand.

         This call is from the IRS, Internal Revenue Service, Tax and Audit Department. [message repeats] [garbled] Call us back at [garbled -- from some of the numbers I was able to discern, it was the same number given that called me] . . .urgency . . .Thank you.

The quality and manner in which this call was placed says to me "SCAM".

The call was left on voice mail. It sounded like a computer-generated voice--or someone trying to sound that way. Claimed to be the IRS and that a complaint had been made against me. Left a callback number (another area code 206 number). Cautioned me not to ignore the call as this was an urgent matter. Somehow it just seemed a little off to me.

Unfortunately, I deleted the voice mail before I got curious and went online and found this site.

Accented voice said my S.S. number had been comprised and was to call immediately.  Similar call two weeks ago, both claiming to be I.R. S.

Got a call while i was away on vacation.
Said irs and a complaint was issued against me.
Call came at 6:45 pm.(who calls at 6:45 pm)
gotta be a scam

Got this call also - tried to call back, number not available and voice mail box was full. Then an error.  Interestingly, our local IRS office and our STATE IRS office won't take phone calls.  How convenient.

Got a call from this company - ironically on the same day a got a check from the IRS because I had made an overpayment.  I would assume that since they are sending me money, I might not actually be in trouble.  I am not calling back.

I also received a call from this company.  They left this call back number and the message was the same as above already noted. I do not believe for one minute the IRS is going to handle legal issues by phone.

I received a message same as above.  Someone needs to shut them down. How did they get my number anyway?

Hilarious if not so irritating. Left voicemail with foreign accent claiming to be from IRS (rolling the R) saying a criminal complaint had been filed against my name. Said not to ignore this call or I could be in tr-r-r-rouble! LOL the IRS will never call you, they will contact you by mail. Never give information over the phone to anyone claiming to be IRS. SCAM!

My husband got two back-to-back voicemails from this number. 1st guy had such a thick Imdian accent he was barely discernible. 2nd call was a woman who sounded Asian. Firstly, I file our taxes so if this were legitimate I would be getting the call, not only my husband. [***]! This kind of stuff really makes me angry because we clearly know it is a scam but I know these people are successful preying on others who don't know any better, particularly the elderly. Really makes me sick. Get a life! Get a job! Go to hell!

Office Steve Johnson with the IRS (heavy accent) do not disregard this call and call me back the second you receive this message. I did call back and let him go on, when I started asking questions he hung up.

got same message saying I miscalculated on my refund and had an arrest warrant out as I have had 2 background checks in the last 6 months I would have heard from this before hand. the  message was left by an indian voice with a thick accent hard for me to understand when I called back could hear other indian voices in background and when I asked where the arrest warrant was from they  couldn't tell me I asked to speak with someone who spoke better English as I couldn't understand him he hung up on me.

Got a call today, Officer Thompson said a Federal Compliant had been filed against me and that I better not ignore the call. I knew right away something wasn't right. I found out there is a scam going on with these calls and submitted the phone number to the IRS. I decided to punch in the number into google and here I am. So glad I didn't bother to call back, what a joke!!
