Call center from Pakistan routed through an IP call network.  Caller ID reports Seattle WA 206-456-0661.  

They claimed my computer was infected and they wanted me to open IP ports so they could help fix the computer.  IT IS A SCAM!!!

If anyone fell for this and allowed them to access your computer to fix it, then they would mine or search your computer for passwords, account and other personal information.  This includes hijacking your computer to send mail and related items.

If you fell for this, immediately turn off your computer.  Then contact your computer tech person or guru.  Make sure those IP ports are closed.

Really now, is there anyone left in this world so stupid as to go along with their spiel????

They called my cell phone at 10.05 AM this morning, January  27, 2912.......but would not speak with me.  All I heard was a buch of back ground noise,,,people speaking in a foreign tounge?    I tried to call them back but no answer.   Probably a SCAM OF SOME SORT.

Answer the call and heard a little background noise then a pre-recorded voice came on and said goodbye, so I called the number back and it says this is Jennifer leech with the federal trade commission you're probably calling because...it goes on to talk about phishing and so on. Not really sure what its about. I am sure it is some sort of scam.

They called and said they were my computer company representative and that my computer is infected. They would fix it if I gave them access, at no charge.  I told them they were mistaken because I didn't have a computer. They hung up. It was a woman, Indian or Pakistani accent

The 206 is Seattle area so the call must come from India or Pakistan and link up in Washington state. Another poorly executed scam.

I just got a call from a call center claiming to be form Microsoft telling me I my computer was sending out problem messages.  He knew my name.  I had trouble hearing the man due to an accent, background call center noise, and it was on my cell phone.  I asked him to call back on my landline.  When he did not, I called the number 206-456-0661.

The call back gave me a message from the Federal Trade Commission warning me about the call.

received a call from 206-456-0661.  They claimed to be from Microsoft and that my computer was infected.  The caller had a heavy Indian or Pakistani accent so I had to ask him to repeat what he was saying many times.  I figured it was a scam so I googled the umber and found this message board.

Same as all of the above except that the phone number appeared on my caller ID yesterday.  When I Googled the number, I found this site as well as another warning of the same scam.  Today when the call came in, only one digit of the area code appeared.  Mr. Mid-Eastern Accent was sure I was on the computer.  I told him I didn't have one, that I go to the library.  He asked if he heard me correctly then back down right away.  It seems to be a computer generated call because I had to say "hello" several times before he answered me.  I'm in Wisconsin.  The 206 area code is in state of Washington.  Thanks to all who have posted before.

I just got a call from this 'guy'. same thing "your computer is having problems'. I knew where this was heading, "turn your computer on... click here, click there... see 'error messages'. now we can help you delete/fix them, all you have to do is... blah". I told him that this call was traced and that I now have his location, I them proceeded to ask if he know who he was talking to? which he said 'no'. I also asked him what i looked like? he also replied 'no'. I then told him 'Good, cause I'll be waiting out for him'. He then became violent, and proceeded to say, go [***] yourself, and your mom, and and....

If microsoft tech called everyone that uses windows, they honestly couldnt do it in time.
At the least there are 20,000,000 computers that run windows, thats 20 million different calls at a rate of 15minutes each... that would take 300 million minutes. thats 208,333 days of 24 hour calling.

I also got a call from a call center claiming to be Microsoft they told me my computer was sending out problem messages also. They 1st called yesterday I answered it and said all those stuff and I wasn't buying it so I hanged up. After that they kept calling with different numbers one actually registered on my caller Id as AGENT 007 (like come am I stupid or something?!?)

anyways I just got a call 10 mins ago I answered it and they told me the same stuff I told them if my computer needs to be fixed why don't you send someone here to fix it because seriously you guys are crooks you guys scam people... the women got very angry and told me they are not scamming anyone I told her I don't believe you... She was very frustrated and angry and told me she's going to hang up the phone which she did very loudly... Always I do believe it is a scam do please people be really careful!

They called at 8:30 this morning & I did not know the number so I pick up the phone & hung it up. They are calling us in Canada

received 3 calls from this number in the past 2 hours.  Tried to call back the first time, got the recording.  Just answered the last one and told the guy I don't have a computer.  He continued to say I did and that he needed to fix it.  I told him if he knew so much about me to send someone to my house and hung up.  Complete scam.

I got several calls and I finally answered one.  It sounded like a Call Center.  They said this was in response to messages from Windows on my PC and they asked me to type in a URL which sounded pretty strange to me so I hung up.  I am pretty sure they were up to no good.

I just rec'd second call from these guys stating my microsoft was infected with some sort of virus. I told them I was driving and could not speak with them.  I then put the number into google and got this message board.  The person who called me also had a heavy Pakistani or Indian accent. I would agree it appears to be a scam.  Thanks for updating.

He said he was from Microsoft. (I could hardly understand him because of his accent) He said my computer was sending them error reports. I told him that Microsoft wouldn't be calling me. I said it is a scam and I won't be talking to you and hung up. I have had many calls from this number  and this was the first time I answered it.

HAHAHAHA!  In thick accent says that it is Eric and he is calling in regards to my computer in my home.  I ask, "Then why did you call me at work?"
He says, "You are at work?"
"Yes, I am at work"  
"Then, may I call you back at this number when you get home a little later?"
"No, I don't want to have anything to do with this call"
And I hung up.  What a crack up.  Now I am just going to have some fun when and if they call back.

Heavy Indian or Pakistani accents claiming to be Microsoft 7 techs....wanted to fix my computer and got very upset when I told them they could not go near my computer...told them I would call Microsoft myself regarding problems...scam, I'm sure

Got one here in Vancouver, BC area at 3:23pm.  I hung up before he could go into his big spiel.

They called our home this evening and told us we had a computer problem. When I responded that I had heard about these calls, the caller informed me "I am calling because I love you. I am going to F*** you." Very disturbing!
