It was a text that had my name in it and said I won a gift card from best buy, In order to redeem I have to go to prizepickupcenter.com.  I just want to know what company sold my number to them!

I received the same text except from the phone number 516-690-9834.  Couldn't help but wonder why Best Buy, who has my email address, would send me a text about winning a gift card.  Plus, most companies who utilize text messaging use a 3-digit number followed by 2 or 3 more digits (000-00), not an actual phone number and certainly not one with a local area code vs an 800 area code.

I just got one too...  from # 760-549-7491.  Same thing.... won a thousand dollar gift card from Best Buy.  Here's how I think they got my number, and I'm curious if any of you had the same thing happen.  I got a call about two weeks ago from a restricted number.  I answered the call and as I said "hello" the very friendly girl on the other line said "Hey! So how was your trip?!"  I of course did the usual "I think you have the wrong number." and she apologized and hung up. My theory is that these people are paid to just dial numbers and see if someone answers/the #s are active and they then add them to their list of numbers to sell.  This is the second text i've gotten of this sort since that weird phone call.  I'm making sure not to respond back to them with a hope of being removed from the list.  The other one prompted me for to text something back to "be removed from the list" which I think would only put me on more lists.

I receive same text with my full first name from 707-401-7570, saying I won $1000 Best Buy gift card! That is  NorthBay San Francisco area code -- said to reply to pricepickupcenter.com! My Norton Site Safety software says that it is an OK website no treats - but I'm NOT going to go to it to find out! But looking further at Norton it looks to have a virus! Same question as all of the above people how did they get my full first name! Called # back and it was a 'free texting' service! Beware! :))

I received the same text this morning at 8:51 from 401-764-4502. What has me worried is that they spelled my name right and the spelling of my name is not common. I'm wondering if everyone who's receiving this message has the same phone carrier.......

Does everyone have a BB reward card?  I bet that's how they got our info.  How else would they know our names??  I notice the prizepickupcenter domain seems to be shut down too.  It wasn't this morning.

There is no website. I did some research on this and noticed this bunch are using numbers from all across the country. My text message came from a phone number, +17326408118, in New Jersey. I know no one in New Jersey.

What really has me is that they know my name, which I don't know how they got. See this is my business cell phone, and the only way to associate my name with this number is to have been a client of mine (or one of my suppliers). So how did this bunch get my name.

BTW on their website, as I said I did some research, they don't have one. Sure they have a domain registered with Godaddy but they don't have a website. I wanted to get enough information incase I wanted to go to the cops for any reason. So I tried their website, all I got was Server Not Found (or the connection times out). Which is usually the case when there is no website.

@java I don't have a Best Buy reward card, never had one ever either. The only reward card I currently have is one for Borders bookstore. Used to have one for Barnes and Nobles but I didn't renew it, it expired at least 5 years ago.
