Scam saying you owe money from years ago

they keep calling here saying they are going to show up at my husbands work.  Keep calling them back and it goes to a recording!!!

I cgot a call from them about am account number and i told them it was the wrong number they said they would take me off the call log. The women who answeredcdid seem pretty nice. Byt they said it was a financial company

Yes I was called just now saying you need to pay us TODAY..$300 of the $490 you owe us or a sheriff will serve you with court papers and you'll have to pay $800, then another $1500.. Wages will be garnished.. Said they were GB Financial.. Tried calling back.. Call wouldn't go through

Calling my cell phone looking for Lisa Lopez at least 50 times from multiple numbers. I've had my number for over a year - I'm NOT Lisa Lopez and never heard of a Lisa Lopez and don't give a rat's [***] about Lisa Lopez, whoever the fuk she is. I'm so fking tired of these assclowns. Time to reach out and touch these motherfking scammers. With the business end of a machete.

l saying I have two cases against me??  Never had to use them. My bank is a pre paid debt.. Its illegal for them to call anyone and tell them they are going to serve you anything at ur place of work or home.Its sounds like a big scam. I told them that and they hung up on me.

I received the same call, this is the first time I actually answered the call.  I got a message "there are 2 cases against and next they will be calling my place of employment".  A recorded voice also gives a case number before the call is disconnected.  If you have cases against me, identify your self and put a human on the phone.  I can not and do not want to talk to a recording.  This is just a scam, trying to get you to give money you do not owe and I have no clue were they got my number.

Its a SCAM!!! they been calling me for years and they told me that my account number was an old phone number I had about 10 years ago. Just hang up on them

It would be useful if someone would identify the case number the callers use. If more than one person has the same case number, that pretty much proves they're a scam. If they all have different numbers, that does NOT prove they are not a scam.

If you're a tiny bit worried it might be a real case number, instead of 123456789. put it like they do on credit card receipts: xxxxxx6789. It's extremely unlikely that the last four will be the same. First four, sure. Last four? That's all the VA needs when a veteran is checking in. I guess, if there more than one person shows up with a given last four, they have to ask additional questions.

There are too many hallmarks of a scam, here. Legitimate debt collectors will not start out with threats of sheriff or coming to your home.

It may be illegal for them to call you at your place of employment. I don't recall if that is true, or not.

Legitimate debt collectors will never put any kind of details in an answering machine message. That's a serious no-no which could cost them thousands of dollars per call.

It is interesting that EVERYBODY seems to have TWO cases. Never three or four. Never just one. Always two.

Doing a Web search only produces a lot of hits on sites like this. Never a hit showing this number associated with a certain business at a certain address. Try looking up your doctor's number or the number on the back of your credit card or in junk mail; they will all report a name and address. None of them will have a listing under whocallsme.com, or any of the other "report scams here" web sites.

As so many others have reported, this is -- at best -- a collection agency engaging in prohibited practices and/or failing to comply with requirements.

Most likely, it is a scam with no basis in reality; made up debt owed to made up company.

The female that answered the line goes, "is that you HON?" my BP just shot up to 1000/1000 if it ever was a reading...I feel my heartbeat in my forehead, I wanted to go through the phone after she hung up in my face. Got two calls on my cellphone for a former resident of my current address.  This happens fairly often as the person seems to have gotten into a lot of trouble, but this specific phone number left a message threatening to come to my residence.  I decided t call back and let them know they had the wrong person, but the man who answered introduced himself by saying "I have no idea what you're talking about" and then proceeded to interrupt every other sentence that I tried to speak.  I finally hung up on him when he acted as if the case number that they left in the voicemail (and that the automated message tells you to have ready when you call the number) was irrelevant.  The case number ended in an 0982

The same bottom-feeders have called me - twice just today - and my caller ID says it is coming from Blackfoot, ID (that should explain a lot - the arm pit of the country).  Anyway, some dude said he has two cases against somebody  named Sammy for unpaid loans.  I am not Sammy and I told that twit that he had the wrong number, but the rebel without a clue just proceeded with his canned response.  He said if I didn't pay he would pursue me at my home or place of work.  I told him that I am very hot and that a lot of men pursue me at my home and place of work and that he will just have to get in line.  When it finally dawned on that jack ass that I was playing him, he got really loud and aggressive.  Just to humiliate him further, I asked him what he was wearing.  I was just being ridiculous to let him know what a joke he is and that he can not intimidate me with his threats.  He hung up on me.
