- Dentist's WifeJust received a call from this number. I guess they thought they had reached my husband's office because they instructed me to turn on the doctor's computer quickly to fix a deadly virus. Actually, they called our home number. I played dumb and told them I didn't have a computer. They hung up on me. What a scam!

Telephone # 888 225-5322" - Sanity Challenged| 1 replyI just got a call from 212-512-2524.
The accents sounded like they were Indian or Pakistani, definitely not American. There was a bad connection, lots of static, etc.
They said my computer was infected with viruses and sending out messages. The lady who called said she would put me on with one of their Senior Technicians.
He asked if I was in front of my computer. When I asked what operating system he showed I was running, he said it was Windows XP.
I'm pretty confused, because all of my computers are using Fedora 16, and told him so. Amazingly, he apparently couldn't solve my problem because he hung up right away.
Looks like if my computer is going to be sending out messages, I'm going to have to help it out by typing them myself, like this one, and hitting send or something.
Great, another day shot to help solve the world's computer problems. Type the message, hit send, type the message, hit send, continue until fingers are cramped. - aprilThis is a spam call. I want to know how I can stop them from calling. The person with a foreign accent is enquiring about the computer !!!!!!!

- Scam Alert!I received a call from these scammers (212-512-2524, phone number most likely has been spoofed). They had a heavy Indian or Pakistan accent. They tried to 'warn' me my computer was infected with a virus that not even anti-virus software or firewalls could stop and tried to sell me their service.
It was most suspicious when they had trouble providing me with the name of their company and the name of their software. They claimed they were from 'Bestel internet security?' or something like that, it was hard to make out the company name due to their heavy accent.
It became even more suspicious when they refused to provide me with a website to research the product they were offering and even refused to tell me the name of their software. I mean what kind of salesman doesn't even know that name of the product he is trying to sell you...
All they kept emphasizing was I 'need' to purchase their service and install their software immediately, and from that point I knew this was a scam.
Do not give these guys any personal information, especially financial information, and do not allow them install their software onto your computer.- Call type: Telemarketer

- Carole replies to DavidI have gotten these people who sound like they are calling from India twice in two days once with the numbe on my caller I.D. today it said "Private" telling me they were with Windows Security and that my PC has been down loading things illegally,I let my granddaughter speak to them as she is more into the PC than I at 69 and she told them if there was a problem then WHY were they calling us and why did they not just FIX it .
I then called my Internet server company who told me Windows would NEVER call ME and that they were probably scammers and to just hang up on them - Carole replies to Sanity ChallengedSeems like the exact same people Sanity ,makes me concerned though as my Debit card number was stolen some how ,and some nice person went Internet shopping ,thank GOD Chase was watching
