This was the gazillionth call from someone wanting to "help" me protect my Windows computer (I use a Mac).  This time, I kept him on the phone by stringing him on - the scam is that "someone" tried to change the password on my Windows computer last night.  He then asks if I'm working on the computer right now, and I would then have to tell him all the applications I have open.  That's when I asked him how he got my number - he gave me my correct address, and when I asked if he was from Microsoft he said yes.  I told him I have a Mac.  Usually they give up at this point, this one was dumber than most and continued answering my questions.  He said that a Windows computer at this address has been sending out pings regarding potential unauthorized access.  I told him there hadn't been a Windows computer at this address for years - then I said I had his phone number, and that since I live in Canada and am on the government's no call list he is violating Canadian law unless he's a charity or a political party.  I asked if he was either of those, and there was no answer.  When I said I would call the RCMP if he ever calls back, he hung up.  East Indian accent, calling from "New York" on what sounded like a very good line (unlike some of these calls, it didn't sound like it was being routed around the world a few times).

I rec'd the same type of call today (5/8/2014) , asking the same type of questions.  Strange he called on line that is our 3rd phone line and no linked to any information that is stored on any vendor website or my computer, and actually it is a new number.  I asked him questions to include was he with Microsoft, his reply was "yes."  He stated that Microsoft was warning me that someone maybe trying to "hack" into my computer and change my password also "last evening".  He also stated that a Windows computer at this address has been sending out pings regarding potential unauthorized access.  He wanted me to give him information on the programs I was running.

I stated I would contact my IT person however, he remained persistent that that my IT person would not be able to help with the "problem."  I hung up!!! and they called back, I did not answer.  

Also, the person had an Indiana accent and the call was from New York.

Same call the Barbara and Shannon received on July 15, 2014.  Very thick male accent that was difficult to understand, telling us that our computer had microsoft files that were hacked and we needed to turn off the computer.  We didn't get very far with the questions but I'm sure he would have wanted to get as much info from us as possible.

I also believe that this is not calling from the actual number listed, because this phone number belongs to "Happy Green Nail Spa" in Harlem that opened in June 2014, so someone may be just pretending to use that number.

I got a call from 213.666.3456 twice. The first time I missed the call but just now they called again and I said 'hello?' I heard nothing except my voice echoed. I hung up and am contemplating whether or not to.call back. Very strange.

Scam from new york number saying something is wrong with my computer

212-666-3456 calls us repeatedly. Strong accent - sounds like he's in India - but claims he's in Chicago. On our Caller ID, number says Happy Green Nail Spa. Anyway, claims to be from World Wide Web, is very aggressive, says he sees our computer is open and programs are running (etc. etc.) very fake and extremely annoying.

I receive a call from some jerk from India all the time & he says the same thing.  It is a SCAM & all our local police departments have sent out emails regarding this big scam.  They want to get in your computer & steal info & credit card numbers.
My caller ID shows different callers different ties but all the same voice from India.

Received a call from a man claiming he is from Microsoft.  Asked if I was main user of my computer. Then said someone tried to change my email password. And wanted me to turn on my computer so he can try to access my computer.

I was on the phone with these guys for quite some time, trying to corroborate their story. They said they were from the World Wide Web, that my computer was emitting malware or viruses or errors (using each phrase at a different time), and also said they were from Microsoft. I finally hung up, and when they called back, I said I was going to call the police.

"Hello Mam, how are you?  I am calling from world wide web and we are receiving some information from your computer.."  I hang up, but these calls are getting ridiculous...

Same as above. He said was Alex from Windows said I had major virus on computer. I got interrupted when I told him no I don't have virus. Also I'm on DO NOT CALL register. I knew when he said I had virus it was a scam since caller id said Happy Green Nail Spa. I wish the police would put people like this in jail.

I was called 11 times in 2 days by Akbar.  He insulted me a few times and told me he wanted me to go to a URL and to put in an address he was trying to give me. I'm a pretty tech savvy guy and decided to play the game with him.  Then he told me my home address and my first and last name.  First off, I'm from the southside of Chicago and second off, I will take little Akbar and show him ALLAH with one punch.  I have called the police and they said it's a scam (NO KIDDING!).  If I ever find Akbar, I will make sure to film the beat down he will receive and post it on YouTube.  Guys like this just don't get it.  Is violence the answer?  In this case, YES!!!  This is such a scam and people fall for it every day!

Same call today (Feb. 17th, 2015) from 212-666-3456. Same accent, same info about my emails and my computer. I let him ramble on. Then I asked him what email address was being compromised. He couldn't answer. I told him to stop calling me...He then proceeded to call me a "C", told me to go "F" myself Along with a few other choice words....then said a few perverted things about the female anatomy. Pretty sure he needs to be reported to someone higher up than local police. Or he could just get a life and a real job like the rest of us. Idiot!

Doesn't say anything, but you know someone is there, called my husband 3 weeks ago, we don't even own a computer, I called the number back, it's a recording saying that the time Warner cable customer hasn't set up their voice mail yet so you can't leave them a message, I reported the number to opp and also rcmp

Received a call from this number stating they were from Microsoft and they keep on receiving critical error messages from my computer.  I told him I didn't own a computer and he hung up on me.

I just received this call, and the caller from Happy Green Nail Spa (Nation) tried to indicate that I had called looking for help to speed up my computer. I was in the shower so my father answered the phone and because he's elderly he proceeded to allow the person on the phone to gain access to sharing the computer.  He sent a notepad text and gained access to the computer, overriding the keyboard and mouse.  I never heard of such a thing, but he wanted $99 for activation fee and $399 for 1-year subscription to "secure the computer from all the Trojans and Network errors he found. Unbelievable he showed errors going back 4 years, but the hard drive has had a fresh install last year.

I told him to get off the computer as I wasn't paying for something AVG could do for $59,  and he proceeded to try to delete nearly 12GB of data. I was powerless to override the command, so I pulled the network plug from the computer and held down the power button to shut it down.  I do believe I was able to stop the last command, and recover the lost data, but I was not a happy camper, as I had just shoveled off our roof, and I don't need this stuff.  Left message with the FBI and my local news Station about this scam.

Guy called again today finally had it with these damn calls some as early as 0600 on a Saturday. Told him to take me off his list and if I received another call from him I would file for harassment charges. (Of which I wouldn't wast my time with this little POS) he told me his company would fight the charges and then I would get arrested. LOL. I basically grew up at a police station and fire station, now work for the FD, I'll have to ask a few friends at PD if anything can be done. I love messin with stupid people. Guy is annoying as hell. Sure he'll call again and I'll waste his time once again.

Could hardly understand.....but said someone was trying to change password.  Said calling from Manasses, Va.   Just told him I could not understand ......hung up!

I had some fun with this.  Every time he asked me what I saw on my computer, I told him "hard-core porn", and then gave him a graphic description of some lascivious activities.  I kept trying to engage him in a conversation about what kind of porn was his favorite, so he finally ended up hanging up on me.
