Phony Google Adwords sales scam.

Asked to speak to "The person in charge of ...."   I cut him off by saying that he's reached a cemetery, and I am currently meeting with a family that just had a death.   He sounded like he was going to burst into tears, he was so apologetic!

I answered and he said "I need to speak with the owner of the company". I told him the owner was retired so he can speak with me and he responded with "I'll call back another time" and hung up.

The person, appears to be an individual from India or similar based on the accent, indicated that he's from Business Pro Designs a web design company. I indicated that I was not interested and hung up. They called twice within the course of 15 minutes.

I received today similar call twice! Once I responded but caller did not speak. Before it was disconnected I believe I heard a sigh! Ghost looking for a mate on free-service phone or may be interested in my voice only :)

This caller insisted on speaking with the owner of the company, when I asked with regards to what he claimed it was a "business opportunity" I asked for specifics and he hung up on me.  How can we stop them from calling our business?  Is there not an agency in the US that deals with these kind of calls?  Here in Canada you can report them, however it was a US number.  Does anyone have any idea what agency represents telemarketers?

Exact same thing happened to me. I called the number back and got a company called Ernest& Young.
What kind of scam is this?

call from this number asking for owner of business, when asked why it was the free google listing spiel. I said I was only visiting whilst out on day release but would gladly sign any checks needed if I was allowed some crayons as I'm not allowed sharp pointy objects like pens.

I don't usually have time to play with these time wasters but couldn't help it today!

don't presume the call is from n.y. as telemarketers are likely spoofing the phone numbers that appear on our call displays. they can make anything they want to appear there using the software programs that they use to generate their phone calls to us. we just get selected by whatever lists they are using to make their calls. if you answer and there is no one there it's only because you didn't answer quickly enough the software has already hung up on you because it doesn't want to waste the telemarketers time. it generates several calls at once and whoever answers first wins the prize of the telemarketers call. please consider who you give your information to. like simply giving it to the cashier at Walmart or wherever. it just helps them complete the info generated from your credit card. then who kows what they do with it, sell it to telemarketers for a profit. and it's all your fault for trusting them. just give them 555-5555 if they insist on one. just use common sense to protect yourself.

rec'd a call this morning, no one on the other end - they call to check to see if someone answers, then call back later with a live person

They keep calling. Day after day.  I live in Ontario, no need for NY calling me.  Problem is they are using our 1 800 line, so we keep getting charged everytime.

just received a call from this number and once I answered the line just went dead. Then in less than 5 minutes they called again. I picked it up but said nothing and the line went dead again. I am going to go out on a limb and say it is a telemarketer.

Yup - they are at it again. It must be the New Year

I have received several calls from this number but each time the person hangs up after I pick up the phone and say hello. I tried to call back, phone rings but then I got busy tone as if the person on the other end had hung up on me

Got a call this morning checked here then blocked it. They just tried to call again and of course it rings once & blocked. Immediately afterwards I get a call from 529-399-4989 with the ID as 6156712604 Um Ya...... BLOCKED you too

They call me all the time. When I finally answer they hang up. I have never even heard a voice on the other end

These guys are a pain. Google listing their supposed game. Made the classic mistake of answering before I looked at the number.

Called my cellphone.  They're still at it.  I refuse to answer numbers I don't recognize and this is not reognizable.  Glad I checked here. Have now blocked number on my I-phone

Just called here.  Don't know anyone in NYC so I let the machine handle it.  It never gets tired or annoyed.

These bozo's called didnt give them a whole lot of opportunity to get into the sales pitch, basically just hung up on them,  No sooner that i do that i got a call from 1-877-889-2024.  I guess the bozo thought it was unintentional disconnect.  Repeated procedure, and added both of those numbers to my autoblocker.
