They called my wife and said they are from "The Legal Affairs Dept" and someone has a legal case against her. If we wanted details we needed to call back right away so he could transfer her to a supervisor (call the same number!). He was unable to transfer because the supervisor was in a different dept.

Indian guy fishing for personal info.  Total scam...

Was told they were calling from Dept. of Legal Affairs about federal taxes that I owe.  I told them they were wrong and to remove my name from their list.  She said that I would have to deal with the IRS.

same thing here, called for my wife, i called the number back just for fun and of course that person is unavailable lol

Left a threatening message on my voicemail. Complete scam artist.

Very strong Indian/Pakistani accent with a very American name wanting me to call back to her supervisor to have me pay my late taxes.  

Received a call today from someone with a strong Indian accent identifying her self as "Jennifer White." She asked for my husband by first and last name and said she was from the "Dept. of Legal Affairs" regarding "IRS taxes." She said for further information about a legal action against my husband he needs to call her manager, "Russel Reed at 213-289-0374." When I questioned the reason that suddenly the IRS contacts people by phone, she had some answer about confidentiality and that she was a paralegal that I would have to speak to Russel Reed for more info. When I asked what year this was regarding & why my name was not referenced since all taxes had been filed jointly for the last 23 years, she had no answer. I tried calling the number she gave me. It rang at least 7 or 8 times and then cut off. I dialed again and got the same ringing & ringing, no answer. It is so very clearly a scam but I cannot figure out what they are getting at since they did not even answer the phone.

got the same call from indian or maybe chinese accent calling herself Jenifer White (asian name?) and I was to call Russel Reed.  Called and he said he was internal affairs of the treausary dept (tip off right away- internal affairs Treasuary if it did exsist would handle INTERNAL treasuary dept business) also asian accent and very american name.  He then said leagal action would be taken from the IRS and asked how I would like to handle this.  I asked how much was involved he said $7000 and he could help me.  Then he said he would call the local sheriff dept and have me arrested.  I gave him phone and name of attorney and told him my attorney handles all my affairs.  I called back and asked for Mr. Reed now he said his name was Ridge.  Same guy.  Wow these jerks are just too obvious.  I asked for his badge number and he gave it as 11908 Now he just dug another hole for himself impersonating and officer of the law.  Hope they catch these people and put them behind bars for a long time.

Indian accent man with name of Steve Scott calls says he from IRS and was going to have a warrant out for arrest if didn't pay $34,000.....

Dec. 18, 2013 - Received a call on my home phone voice mail this morning from a Justin Black from the Dept. of Legal Affairs, saying to call back or have my attorney call back.  Otherwise I would be facing serious legal consequences.  Threatening and disturbing.  I did not return the call.

Left long message on home phone which was difficult to understand. I called back from work and a very rude man with an accent said the name they had associated with the phone # was my husband's and they had proof he was late in income tax payments and that the feds were going to come to our house and arrest him. After several challenges to his misinformation he finally hung up on me. I guess they do scare some people who actually send money. The federal government will let you know in writing if you owe anything, they will not call you.

Got two messages from this number today, claiming from US treasury dept of legal affairs. I called back from two different numbers and all they wanted the name of my tax attorney. I said I don't have one as I don't have any tax issues. They said I would have to deal with the detectives.

I have received no notices from IRS  evere and know I don't owe taxes. This is a scam!

Received same message from "Nigel' with very thick Indian accent said I need to call another number to get more information. Followed up to see when it would go. 'Angela Johnson' got on the phone saying she was calling from the Department of Legal
Affairs with the US Treasury. When pressed for more information she said she would have the IRS call me regarding the issue. Scam

received a call stating he was with the treasury department legal affairs division and I was to call back and ask for Angela Johnson.  I asked for a badge # for the treasury agent and he didn't respond.  Spoke in an Indian accent and I had a difficult time understanding him.  He maintained the ruse throughout the call.  I did call the FBI and report the call.

They called my father with this same story about IRS taxes.
I reported them to the FBI.

Trying to put together bits and pieces of the message (very heavy accent)  I was able to decipher a David something or other claiming to be from the Dept of Legal Effort regarding some revenue issue and urgently need to call him back -  So far has left 3 voice messages  and two were within 10 minutes of each other  I would say it definitely is a scam to suck money from people - Authorities: PLEASE put a stop to this pronto!!

We also recently started receiving calls from Nigel of Legal Affairs. We gave the claim to our Debt Management company to investigate further. Don't know what they want but same as all these other people experiences. It appears to be a scam.
