Report a phone call from 213-401-2846 and help to identify who and why is calling from this number.
- Maryland| 1 replyThreatening. Male caller left message on our home machine and told us we had to call him back to avoid magistrate or grand jury investigation because of a criminal offense. If we do not call him we could face jail time. He left this number (which matched the caller ID) but did not identify himself or who he [purportedly] worked for.

- Donna replies to MarylandI received the same call today. Foreign accent and said I committed a federal offense. Yeah....sure
- OhioanJust received same exact message as previous poster. Totally bogus.

- Concerned CitizenWe have received 2 calls in the last 2 weeks from men with noticeable foreign accents threatening action by the IRS (a warrant for our arrest, the need to appear before a federal magistrate, etc.) unless we called them back at this number and "cooperated." We reported the calls to our local police department and was told that they'd received "thousands" of complaints. The police also told us that the calls couldn't be stopped or traced because they were coming from a telephone number outside the U.S. These crooks apparently also have an app that generates a U.S. phone number and causes the local number to appear on a U.S. caller i.d. Don't call them back or do anything else that might encourage them!

- Doh!LOL, I hit the auto redial and the recording says no such number.
Probably foreign cyber terrorists trying to incite panic in the land of the great Satan...
I mean who says magistrate?!?!?
Per http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Magistrate#United_States
United States
Magistrates are somewhat less common in the United States than in Europe
People's Republic of China
Magistrate, or chief magistrate, is also a common translation of the Chinese xianzhang
Ha ha, busted you stupid Mongolian hackers!

- MikeCalled my mother-in-law and left three threatening messages with this number as a callback. Voicemail is full, and he's on the phone. Probably with some poor schlub who didn't check the number first and is now losing money. Scam Scam Scam. Valid as a 7 dollar bill. Don't call back, but don't bother with the police either. They really can't do anything sadly.
- Caller: Not Really the US Treasury
- Call type: Prank
- AnonymReceived the same message, "federal case against you from the U.S. Treasury. You need to cooperate or you will appear in front of a Magistrate or Grand Jury. Please call me back, my name is Steve Martin. Help me help you". Very heavy accent. Called the number back and message stated he was on the phone and his VM was full and could not accept messages. Funny thing is there was no specific name for who he was calling for. I regret calling the number back now.....
- Caller: did no state Co. name
- Carlos FernandesHi also just recieved a cal from this numer he said his name is Steve martin same story as the others
- AndrewJust recieved the same message today 8/22/2014. They must get some poor suckers to call back or it wouldn't be worth the effort. Glad to see the police are some help.

- Rhubarb"Steve Martin" must be very busy this week. Just got me -- and repeated the robocall three times. Threatening phone calls are illegal so why isn't the FCC doing something to put "Steve's" employer behind bars, where he belongs. Yeah, I know why. Because they're too busy. Too busy to work for the people that hire them (you and me).
