This Person named himself as Michael Luke and is now using craigslist. He has my email, should I be worried?

I applied to "Administrative Assistane, Customer Service" on Craigslist.   Got a reply saying they are Philip Wesley, wesphilipey@gmail.com.  Said owns an Art business in Australia and needs an Assistant in the U.S. to do his errands, shipping, shopping, etc.  Hours are 15-20 a month but pay over $400 a week.   Instantly sounded bogus.  I looked the number up..

Ditto to the Craigslist post.  My message came from Edward Gordon (goredwarddon@gmail.com) who owns an art business and is in Australia.  Really hate these creeps.  I don't even know if the number works. Not going to try.

I just got the same one with in seconds of replying to the craigslist add.. from Edward Gordon same scenario.

I just got one from Corey Cyrus, same email and #

I got two messages from 2 different people stating the same thing.  They must think we are desperate and stupid!!!!!

I also got an email from an Edward Gordon from a craig's list ad. I knew it was fishy because I looked up the number and found that he posts the same email under many different alias'. I have called the number and he actually answers and says he is Edward Gordon. However, the number is a Los Angeles number...kind of funny he says Australia. I have been working with the Federal Trade Commision on catching this creep. All who receive emails from this guy should go to the FTC site and file a complaint. The more complaints received, the more apt they are to catch him quickly.

I have received many emails from this Edward Gordon guy saying the same thing he's saying to everyone else. Here's the email.

I also answered a CL ad for employment. I received the same exact message today but the name was Matt Oscar.

It's creepy and I cannot understand what drives him.
I mean, what is he getting out of this? And if others have responded to his earlier scams, why haven't they been flagged on CL by now?
So, now this freak has my personal contact info. What does he want with it???

Hi. I got caught up in this as well. Answered the ad, he wrote back, same BS.
I was just in my Google gmail and I noticed the guy was actively on "google chat" -- his name these days is Matt Oscar.  Earlier today I was getting wi-fi connection errors that said none of the sites I wanted to visit could be accessed because of certificate problems (this never happened before) . Also said it could be that someone outside is trying to duplicate.  Since this scammer now has my home address and email info (I sent my resume when applying for the position), I'm really afraid he is hacking into my system....

Any word/news/advice?  What did the FTC say?

Well, I might be even more unintelligent than I even thought. I answered the same ad, and got the same response. It seemed a little sketch, but didn't set off enough red flags in my mind to report it, and I couldn't find anything on the guy (who goes by "Louis Lance"). I figured he already had all of my contact information anyway, so if I was going to be screwed, it was already done. I responded to his response, and have been in limited contact with him in the past few days (he never really answered any of the questions I asked about his business, which prompted me to finally be more than a bit nervous). He says I should be receiving a package within the next few days. I realized his number was listed in the email (it was covered up because of some gmail setting), and looked it up, only to find this. Should I contact the FTC, wait for the supposed package, or both?

Got the same thing. He got my address off my resume and today I received a check from allen hutchenson cpa. But his name is loui lance. Im taking it to chase to report it tomorrow.

Ok so if you received a check from this guy, what happens if you cash it? Do you go to jail? Would it be my fault if he sent me a bad check? I received the same email yesterday & was actually excited about earning that much... then got a feeling to check out his # since I couldn't ind anything on Google about "Hassan Shawn". So just wanna know what happens if I follow through... he can't do much harm with just my contact info can he?

I answered the ad on cl this weekend and got the same response as everyone else, but it's from Raymond Ferry. I responded back with the following:

"Thank you, but no.  I am not interested.  This doesn't sound legitimate.  Also, you are not legally allowed to ask my age.  In the US, that is considered age discrimination."

I can just see it now.  He sends a package of bomb-making to our house & we forward it to one of his "customers". Who gets the rap? We do!

I got the same answer of answering a email response from a sam tomas... this is bs! he chnt do much harm with having our info already canhe ?
