These people have been calling my cell and work number and threatening that there is a legal suit against me and if I do not follow their instructions or call them back then all they can do is wish me good luck as the events unfold upon me. This is a scam!!!

That is exactly what they say to me when they call me.  I have been getting these calls for months and they use spoof cards to hide there true #.  Sometimes they change the number with a completely different area code.  Definately a scam!!!

These people are NOT a legit legal department.  If they were they would pursue debt collection LEGALLY.  They refuse to give a company name, they refuse to give an address where documents may be mailed to them, they refuse to provide written proof of the supposed debt and they consistently harass and threaten people saying they will have you arrested and placed in jail in another state.  All of the above violates the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act. DO NOT believe anything they tell you.

I got a call from this number and he said his name was Mark Murphy and the number is a California number.  There are 111 people named Mark Murphy in this California area code. These people have been calling my cell and work number and threatening that there is a legal suit and if I do not follow their instructions or call them back then all they can do is wish me good luck as the events unfold upon me.  Definitely a scam especially since they keep asking for my sister's name and she has passed away.

I just got a call from Eric Jordan 213-816-1950 and was threatened that he is going to do something to me and now he will show me what he is going to do. This is criminal they should not threaten people and when I called back his "supervisor" told me the same thing. He left me a voice message saying he was a federal officer and a friend of mine was being investigated for fraud and since I wouldnt talk to him he would show me what he could do to me... Really holy crap what is he saying should I file a police report is he saying he is going to harm myself or my family? He had a heavy accent and I honestly feel threatened...

I  got a call just like the caller above from Mark Murphy saying he has a legal suit against me and if I dont follow his instructions or call him back and all he can do is wish me good luck as the events unfold upon me. He calls my job twice a day and leaves messages on answering machine too.

I have been getting calls from these people. A Mike Anderson.  They are telling me it was from a loan off the internet which I did aquire but I was givin no info on how to return payment.  They have threaten to have me arrested and said there are 3 charges against me.  They refuse to send me any info unless I send them my credit card # first. Dont get me wrong i have intentions of re-paying this debt but to the original company or a legitimet one that allows you to get info from them.

I started getting these calls in May on my job.  Everytime they call and I say I have told you I do not have a payday loan and someone else had call me they say this is the first time I have called.  My last call came from Eric and I didn't answer.  He left me a message saying call him back or have my lawyer call.  How do I stop these harassing calls?

I just received a call from 213-816-1950.... a man w/ an accent... something about my friend is involved in criminal activity and not to dirsegard the call. He states if I do not call back this all falls on me. He is attempting to threaten me. We should file a police report.

I received a phone call from a "0000" number last Friday and was left a message from a man by the name of Mark Murphy. He sounded like he was of Arabic or some Middle Eastern country. He said my full name, first and last and then word for word... "my name is Mark Murphy and my number is 213-816-1950, I repeat 213-816-1950 . Please call me back as soon as possile I want to speak with you about the legal case that is filed against under your name and your social security number, and if you don't return the call and I don't hear from your attorney either then unfortunately you will face legal consequences so it's better for you to call me back right now. Goodbye, take care, and God Bless you." After hearind this I immediately called him back only to have another male (who sounded just like the voice in the message) answer the phone "Hello?" (not very professional for a "legal office" if you ask me) and when I asked to speak with Mark Murphy he said that he was out of the office for the day. I think thats odd considering the VM said to call right back, didnt mention anything about being out of the office for the weekend. So I demanded that they tell me what this was concerning and he said that only Mark can discuss my case file so I hung up. First thing Monday morning I call the number and again get a "hello?" answer, when I asked for Mark the man (who again sounded like the man on the VM) covered the phone with his hand and asked said to someone in the background "They're asking for Mark" when he got back on the phone he said that he was out of the office again. So I argued with the man for the next 5 mins demanding he tell me more information and that I refused to wait for this "Mark" to call me back. He finally told me that I never paid an internet loan that I had taken out and that he had my checking account number and 2 references that I had given. When I asked him to give me these he said he could not release the information... this is when I told him to take his "info" and shove it bc this is a scam and I have nothing to worry about bc I have never taken out any internet loans.

I plan on contacting the BBB as soon as I post this message.

UPDATE: I have called this number everyday since I received the voicemail and this "Mark Murphy" is convieniently never available OR has called me back....well today I got a recording saying that the number had been disconnected. Guess they got so irritated with me calling everyday (and at all hours of the day might I add)!

UPDATE: I tried calling the number again yesterday and the number was active again! So they must be turning it off when someone catches them in the BS... when they answered I asked to speak with Mark Murphy and he immediately got on the phone. He tried giving me the entire story again about how I took out an internet loan yadda yadda yadda so I just cut him off and demanded he tell me my bank information that they supposedly had. He again tried to derail me by threatening me with jail and I told him that what I was asking for was simple information that he should be able to provide if this is not a scam, this is when I also mentioned that I was recording the call so that I could have my attorney hear all the [***] that he was feeding me and so that I could file a countersuit for the harrassing phone calls. After hearing that he said hold please and proceeded to put me on hold for 20 mins. I hung up and tried calling the number back and all I got was a recording saying that it was inactive again.
So today I tried calling again and the number was active AGAIN! This time I again asked for Mark Murphy and they asked who was calling, which I refused to give them assuming they would just put me on hold again. I finally got "mark" on the phone and I said "Hey! Mark! It's me again... remember talking to me yesterday about your fraudulant scam and then putting me on hold when I threatened you with lawyers?" He immediately became nervous and denied talking to me the previous day. I again demanded he tell me the information that he had and he just hung up on me. I proceeded to call back 6 times and everytime they would either hang up on me or just yell over me that they were on their way to arrest me....but the last time I called he (not Mark, Officer McCoy) actually let me talk and I again demanded my information and what he replied to me was "What are you going to do for me?" to which I replied that I would give him [***] bc I didn't owe him anything.

If anyone thinks this isnt a scam after reading my experience, you are an idiot. These guys are completely fraudulant in everyway... do not give them ANY info that they don't already have! They are trying to scare you into giving up your CC info and REAL bank info and if you fight them back they will back off and leave you alone.

I reported this to the FTC but they said that they really couldnt do anything except collect reports but if they got enough they could pursue it... so PLEASE, if you've gotten calls like this from this number report them immediately!! The FTC's number is 1-877-382-4357

They have been calling me on and off for months at my employer, telling me the police were coming to get me. Each time I say that Im standing by the door, and dont see anyone yet. Today they called, and I said I was recording the call, and going to press charges, and they immediatly hung up. They are a scam, and scared away with threats of real lawsuits.

I have received 2 calls from 213-814-0216...a man stating his name is Alfred Summers...he speaks with a thick accent.....threatening to arrest me for non payment of a payday loan......then threatened to arrest 2 of my friends as well.....I told him I was calling the police as I knew this was a scam and he began cursing at me......I hung up on him and received 6 calls in a row within 2 minutes thereafter.......do not fall for this scam......they are trying to get your bank and credit card info.......

these people have been bothering me since may of this year. the first time i told them i wanted proof in writing verifying the debt they stopped calling me for about 3 months, then using a different number and name always someone with a very heavy middle eastern accent and very american name edward walker or ---- jones (i couldnt make out his first name due to his accent) are calling me again. what should i do to make these calls stop!!!! i have told them not to call my work yet they continue to do so.

This number 213-816-1950 sure is a scam when i talked to a person who said he is a lawyer  i asked what company he was representing and he just kept talking over me asking me my phone number  and i kept saying i will tell as soon as you tell me what company your representing  he got mad and told me not to call there again you hear. 2nd call i got from this number i can't even understand these people but whoever wrote if you threaten them they run scared was right the first time i called i told them i was calling the police and then my lawyer will call them they just hung up on me. We do have to find some way to stop them.  they might find some unexpecting person like an elderly person who runs scared with there threats and send money then who knows what else will happen.   Please anybody who gets these calls DO NOT SEND ANY MONEY!  Do not believe a word they are sayiong they are real live Scammers.
