crazy man with a heavy accent calls threating to put you in jail and haved the police at your house in the morning if you don't send him money......then he starts cursing...

"Gavin Thomas, Investigator" claiming to be collecting a an old payday loan debt, which I've never had.
First a case had all ready been filed against me, then when I asked for the case number, he said he didn't have it because the case was actually being filed in one hour.
He could not tell me what court the case was being filed in.
Then a case was going to be filed at 11:00 a.m. tomorrow morning in my state (although he didn't know what state it was and couldn't pronounce it) and the police were going to be coming to my work to serve me a summons.
When I asked to speak to the attorney that would be filing the paperwork and pursuing the case, they said they "couldn't know all the attorneys they had working for them"
I found the whole call quite amusing, as I'm an attorney and have a pretty good command on what happens when a case is filed. This is a mere annoyance for me, but it's appalling to think that these scammers are actually convincing some people to pay a bogus debt because they of these abusive scare tactics!
I even called the company they claimed to be representing to see if someone had fradulently taken out a payday loan in my name, but they didn't have any information associated with me at all.

I got the very same call today and they left me a message yesterday.  I had this happen about six months ago also.  Do you know who I can report this number to?

Just got a phone call that i had a payday debt from 2 years ago and had all my personnel information. He told my that at 11:00 in the morning they will be filling charges against me and will have me arrested at work. They said it would cost 5,000 to get out of jail. He told me if i sent 1800 then they would dismiss my case. He gave me information on how to send it western union but i only had an hour to do it in.  They have called my work place and told them that i had 5 hours to call them or i would be arrested. They got mad when i didn't send money to them. Said they was going to have me arrested.  Then they said my job is going to be screwed if i didn't send any money.

SCAM i called this guy and told him he was a scam and he told me to kiss his ass. Please report this number to the California Attorney Generals office. They want you to send them money to a fax quick collect. i am a fraud investigator for a telephone company and we deal with this all the time. DO NOT SEND MONEY!!

Received this call from a person who could barely speak english stating that either I or my attorney needed to call him or a serious situation would unfold, didn't even bother calling back this happens every couple of months for the past 2 years, I receive these calls and they say its from some payday loan company, when it first happened I called the supposed Payday Loan company and they advised they had no record of me and it was a scam going on, I would find this amusing with them saying I was going to jail If I don't call them, since I am a Probation Officer and know very well they can do no such thing even if it was a valid debt, however wish they would give it up and stop calling me at work, this has been going on for at least 2 years and already had to sign up for a credit monitoring service just to make sure I don't become a victim of any sort of idenity theft.

I deceided to answer the call, and this ignorant, could barely speak English person claiming to be from the "Law Office".  He said that 3 people were sueing me!  I asked who, they were and to give me names , and address, including his address.  The phone miraculously sounded as though it was breaking up.  He then, hung up on me, and this REALLY made me angry, so I called back and the same person suddenly became Marcus, instead of Joshua Carter.  I asked him for his information, then he proceeded in saying I would be arrested at 11am.  He also said that my family would be arrested.  He ended with saying God could only help me now.  

I Really hope someone catches this JERK!!!!

Just got this call and tehy called me last summer as well too. LOL. Amusing calls. They called me at 7:30 am EST

Contacted after they made illegal contact with client.  Person I spole to was absolutely vitriolic, abusive profane and threatening

This is a scam for sure.  If you could respond to this thread it would be much appreciated.  If they gave you the information to send them money via western union, please thread all the contact information from the western union they gave you...they can be tracked down through that.  Just as a show of good faith on my part, info about them, they are using Level 3 communications LLC out of Los Angeles as a phone carrier.  With your info it is possible to not only have their carrier shut the number down, but have the fbi to investigate(if their contact info via western union is in united states) outside, prob homeland security.  Please type the western union contact info for them,  much thanx if you can.

Caller calling home and work number, treating that if we don't send money, court is going to pick me up, throw me in jail and get me fired from my job.  Cannot verify any info and wants ssn from me as well.  When I ask questions, he starts yelling and cursing really bad then hangs up.  This has happened mutiple times, contacted an attorney, he advised me to tell them that I was turning them in.  Makes it stop for a while, but picks up again about 3 mo later.

Sam Martin left a message at 5:25pm at my work number on 9/3/10 stating I need to call him back immediately or face serious legal trouble. I don't know this man

Got a call from a woman named Jennifer with a heavy, what sounded like middle eastern accent. She said I am being sued, just like all the rest of the stories listed above and that tomorrow I would be taken to court. This is a scam! First off, you don't say you are calling from a law office, and its clear that in the background, it is some type of call center (or acting like one). I also work in fraud, and these people are trying to do fraudulent activity with anyone that contacts them. Report that number to Attorney Generals Office.

I recieved a call just like this this morning on my mobile phone   who are these people they  have no right to harass people
