They left a postcard in front of my home saying "Sorry We Missed You!" without even ringing my door bell. There were two phone numbers and a confirmation ID number mentioned on the card:

    (214) 393-9682
    (817) 260-0168

There was no name of the company mentioned on the card. When I called them, they told me that there were some coupons for new homeowners and if I was interested in them. Basically they wanted to get my email address.

This is a scam! Do an internet search on Metro Delivery or Compass flyers. We have received four in the past month, all from those names as well as GeoTrek. Save the flyers and report this activity to the police and your HOA if you have one. Do not call the numbers and do not give out any information!

Received this card on my door today, and yes, people were at home. I wouldn't respond to anything like this and hope these people go away.

same story for me. this is the third card i have received and today I was home and the dogs went crazy hearing someone mess with the front door handle. "Delivered by GeoTrek" with hours stating 9 am to 6 pm. I called the phone number and it said hours were from 7 to 7. I went outside about ten seconds after this card was hung on my door and the mailman was driving away. hmmm.

They are a delivery company that distributes promotional material primarily for a reseller of home security systems.

I recently closed on a house too, and started getting these taped to my front door, always while someone was home.  The thing is, it is a gated neighborhood and they should not be thwarting the gate.  I called the numbers, blocking my Caller ID of course, and only got a machine asking for my confirmation ID.  I tried entering the number printed changing it slightly, so as not to tip off it was me, but kept getting "Your confirmation ID is invalid".  So, I was unable to determine what it was about.  It just is too sneeky for my taste to leave cards with no clear information on your door when someone is home.  My neighbor thinks it may be a pesky security company that pestered him incessantly for months when you call them back and provide your "Confirmation ID" a couple of years back.  Whatever it is, no thanks.  I will bring up the soliciting question with this HOA board at the next opportunity.

Called the # to see what it was about.  They say that we were selected to receive 2 free gifts from "The Welcoming Committee for the neighborhood association".  The first is $300 worth of restaurant gift cards and the other is $1000 home security system.  They asked for my email to send the gift certificates and they said that they couldn't leave the other gift because it was too valuable to leave on the front porch (someone was home when they left the notice on the front door).  I asked what company she worked for and she repeated the same BS about The Welcoming Group for the neighborhood.  At that point I told her that I wasn't interested in any "free gifts", she wasn't getting my email address and to take me off of any lists that she has.

Too bad, I gave them my email address.  I should have done a Internet search first.  What can I do to block them?  Please help!

Same experience as everyone else here.  I live in Oak Lawn and was home the other day and same thing, no one rang the bell, just left a flyer in order to establish a phone conversation.  Funny thing is is that they know that what they are doing is technically legal but morally wrong.

Shameful scam, immoral, unethical, and likely illegal.  My understanding from speaking with friends in the government / legal community in Austin is that the State Attorney General may be seeking an injunction regarding Geotrek and may temporarily restrain them from doing business in Texas.
