I got a missed call on my cell, then it called my house phone and it was a collect call and it was asking for my credit card and it said that it was from my mom calling but she's coming from MA to Co so why is she in TX calling, I declined and the girl hung up.

Got a call from this number at 1:56am.  I was sleeping so didn't answer it in time.  Calls in the middle of the night can be quite alarming so of course I called back.  No answer and they didn't leave a message.  This morning I did a reverse phone number check which identified it as a land line in Dallas, TX.

Your story is to close to home!  What is your story or if you do not want to share I understand.  I have questioned some things I am devastated by this if we are talking about the same person.  Forgive me _I have never gone on a chat line if this is what it is.

I'm surprised that there are so many comments about this. I just got this on my cell phone (2:08PM March 3, 2009) and it's apparently some kind of One Missed Call shizzle. How exciting. I live in SC if it makes any difference but I don't have voice mail. (My plan is very old.) I didn't answer since it was from a bizarre area code, but come to find out from this website that it could have been anyone from anywhere, the calls seem to be routed through Texas for some reason. I love how some of them are obviously scam calls but the people seem to know your name and your boyfriend/mom/uncle's name and who to ask for and who to say they are. Even though they are scammers and not really anyone you know. Luckily this number only called me the one time, but it looks like it's called several of you multiple times. That would have freaked me out. Now I kinda wish I would have answered it. I won't even try calling back since everyone said it's only a busy signal.

I received this call about 10 mins ago. First call came in at 3:01pm. Second came in at 3:02pm. Didnt answer. I called it back once they called back to back. No one answered. It just rang and rang. I have no idea.

This is a Verizon pay Phone. There is no way to track it as they get these pay phones from this company. I just got a call from a friend in Miami and he was using the pay phone. It didn't ask me for anything just him when I picked up saying hello. I guess people are going to pay phones to try and run the scam.

it was saying it was an "inmate call" from my boyfriend.but it just hung up on me.
i live in WA.and he's in south carolina right now.

Just got a call from this number, it was an automated message that says, you are receiving a complimentary call from and then my friend said "its me, T***" and then it hung up.. I know it was my friend, it was his voice, but now I'm kinda worried about him after reading the jail/inmate stuff.. Hope he's ok.

I received a call from this #, it was my ex-boyfriend calling from Pitt County Jail, and thats in NC..

I got a call from that number, well of course,, a texas area code. well,, it said my sons last name, and when I called it back, it was busy,, how ironic,,so what the heck is going on?

It's a Verizon catch-all number. Some rehabs use it for outgoing calls. Limited to 10 mins.

I'm at work, my phone rings and I see (214) 969-5489 show on the display window of my desk phone.  A recorded voice on the other end sounds like my manager, wanting to make a collect call by my giving them my personal credit card number.  The recorded voice sounded identical to the prompt on my manager's voice mail greeting.  I hung up and then tried reaching my manager on his cell phone.
