11:28 PM EST Call came in from this number....I said hello but the line sounded dead. I hung up after the 3rd hello.
11:29 PM EST The same number called my phone back. This time there was obviously someone on the line, a gentleman with a timid voice said "um, may I speak to Brittany?" I told him that he had the wrong number. He asked me to repeat as if he was shocked that he had the wrong number. Apologized and the call was disconnected.
I too like many of you did a google search and found this to be based as a Dallas number but I am familar with the fact the numbers can be ported and rented to different company's who are willing to pay for the prefix so, who know's where Mr. Timid was calling from. Word of advice, dont give anybody your personal information. If they ask for Sam and your name is Joe, say wrong number and rap it up! People will fish for info to take advantage of you.

Called dec 17th and 24th demanding explicit sexual favors or he would burn out house down. I am surprised that this guy hasn't been caught after reading all of this harassing call complaints. Would love to catch this sicko!!

the number is real. it's a collect call service, usually from inmates in jail if you know anyone in jail. don't accept the call unless you are willing to pay an arm and a leg for it. for a 10 minute call, you can expect to pay about $28 dollars. You are looking at $3 a minute because the service has all these crazy fees they imposed.

Got call from this number this morning 9:47am (New Years Day)The automated voice explained the call and then my friend gave his name twice. it was him cuz i know his voice. when they asked for the cc i did not want to give my #. they said press 3 and an operator would call me back immediately to get my cc #. then the call dropped and no one called back. My friend who is in Florida probably thought i would not accept the charges (im in CO)and his mom told me his cell ph is turned off. this is not a scam. people running a scam would not know names of your relatives and friends. think about it!!!!!M8T7

My stepdad called from this numbaa. I told my mom it's a Dallas, Texas number.
She said it was the operator's number and [***]. Like it's not the payphone that they're calling off of. So you could be calling from Las Vegas (Where he was calling from.) and it might say a Dallas number.

Received a call from this number nearly 15 times in 24hrs.  At one point there was 10 calls placed to me within 10 minutes.  The first day I tried calling back and it was busy constantly.  The second day I answered and it says its an automated call from the name inserted "Jacquon" and is looking to get my credit or debit card number. I tried calling my cell phone company to see if they have any harassment policy.  If this continues I will be taking it to law enforcement officials because it's ridiculous and out of hand; obviously some sort of losers scam.

i got a call from this number at 4 in the morning and i answered but they hung up. i called back but it kept ringing.

I just received a call on my cell phone from (214) 969-5489 saying that they were calling from somehwere, but he sort of mumbled the name or quickly saying where he was calling from and said that it was a collect call and if I wanted to speak to my husband, I would have to give up a credit card number.  I tried to get him to clearly speak where he was calling from and he became frustrated that I would not give my credit card # and told me that if I did not he would hang up, I refused, he hung up.  I called the number back and the line was busy.  Clearly this is a scam to get my credit card info.  Warning:  Don't ever give your credit card # to anyone that you don't call yourself. (214) is from Texas!  I'm in NY

My teenage son ran away and has been telling everyone he is in LA. He finally called collect from this number, again saying he was in LA. When we tracked down the area code we realized it was a Texas number. So, all your comments are helpful.

My brother, who is challenged with mental problems, ran away from home several weeks ago.  
When my dad received a call from him from this number, we were ecstatic but also confused because he said he was in LA and trying to come home. However, the number is normally a Dallas metroplex number.  It is difficult to determine the actual loacation after reading previous posts of others but it does help to gain a clearer picture of the dilemna.

Several months ago this number called me and said his name was Richard as the saw me advertise on CL and made an appointment with me and was a no show.  You call the number back and it is busy.
Today he called again and said it was John and wanted to make an appointment and I told him i knew he had called me before and for him to loose my number.
Whatever scam this guy does from this number he must be real busy with all these other people saying he is calling them too.

A fast talking female voice stated an acquaintance of mine was calling collect from Texas???!!? She needed my credit card number to put the call thru. She stated she was from Intel? (I seriously doubt it) The scenario was very fishy considering that my acquaintance was not in Texas and Southwestern Bell the phone number's carrier.

Against all better judgement, I gave her my card number. Then I immediately canceled the card because she told me my acquaintance hung up and was not available anymore. This is obviously fraudulent makes absolutely no sense at all.

My question is how did the caller get the name of my acquaintance?  I hardly know that person. How could the caller possibly draw a connection between the two of us?  Crazy weird stuff here!

I have tried many times to call back this number and either the line is busy or nobody answers.  There is no answering machine.

I just experienced somewhat of the same situation but what you all do not know is that it is not a Dallas number.  If you log on through a specific computer site you may call someone through the computer! Just any john doe can get on the computer and that site makes it easy for them to scam. I know this because a girl tried to prank call me by doing so.  So I hope this helps you out.

This is a pay phone from a rehabilitation facility.  If someone is contacting you from it, it is probably someone who is seeking help for drug addiction.  It is a Texas phone number but the facility is not located in Texas.  That is to provide a sense of annonymity.

i got a missed call from this number on sunday jan 24 2010. have no idea who this could but at all!! but it damn near cost me my life when my husband found it
