Received calls from this number a while ago. Kept calling back and only got an answering machine. Finally got in touch with a guy who answered and he asked if I wanted to get the Inquirer. I told him I was already receiving the paper and he said "OH, OK". The calls stopped for two months now have started again. I am investigating options as to what can be done with the PA Attorney Generals office. The information below is what shows on my caller ID, but it doesn't mean that is where the call originates. I will try to keep everyone who is interested updated.

Called me and told me i owed the Inquirer money.  I told them I would get the paper at a discount of $13 / week if I paid tonight.  I  told them I would send in my check and they asked me for a check number, then asked for a transit number on the check.  Then when I said no, they asked for a credit card number.  At that point, I told them to shove it somewhere and hung up.  Someone better find and stop these sad excuses for human life!

Called five times today.

I cancelled The Inquirer.  They keep calling anyway.

Been called twice by this number, they never leave a message.

I wrote a check for $12 in September for 8 weeks of paper.  My 8 weeks were up 10/28, and I stopped receiving the paper.  Bought it from a kid who was selling it for his school.  And now they are calling 10 times/day. Never leave a message, and I do not owe them any money.  I only bought 8 weeks, and that was all I received.  Anyhow, put my number on the DO NOT CALL LIST.  But if they keep calling, I'll file a consumer complaint.

Is this even legal? It's harassment.

I was getting calls almost every morning between 9 nd 10 AM.  Hardly never anyone on the line when I do answer. ( I too get the Inquirer on Saturdays and Sundays) Occasionally when I do manage to talk to someone they say they are from the Philidelphia Inquirer.I got P.O.'d and put that number on reject.  I still get the calls but it only rings once before it is rejected. I'm considering calling the Inquirer subscription department and tell them I'm going to cancellout my subscription completely if these calls don't stop.  Let the Inquirer figure out who is doing this stuff.  If enough people threaten to discontinue the paper maybe they will try harder to see who is making these calls and get it stopped. If it isn't their fault then they should have enough pull to influence somebody or organization who CAN do something about it.

Initially they would call me once/twice a day but no messages.  Following that week, they would call me ten times from 7:00am - 11:00am every day for a week. I picked up the phone one day and a lady tried telling me that I owe them money. I told them that its impossible then she tried to convince me to subscribe to the newspaper. I told her I wasn't interested. I didn't hear from them for two weeks and now they have started calling again. The worst part is that they have my cell phone number.

I receive calls from Philly Direct every day of the week, from 8:00 AM until 9:00 PM.  One day, I received eight (8) calls in one day (usually around 4 to 6).  I subscribe to the Inquirer !!  I've put my name on the "do not call" list, and left a message, however the calls continue.  Perhaps we can all file a class-action suit against The Inquirer for harassment !!

Why is the $%$#%%# do they call my cell phone a few times a month and never leave a message? I have the paper, I am on auto-pay so I dont owe them any money.. I get SUNDAY ONLY! stop calling me!!

So summer of 2007 I get a post card for a Sunday paper special.  $11.88 for 13 weeks of Sunday papers.  They cashed my check and never once delievered a paper.  I called to complain about 7 times over the course of 4 months.  They kept saying how sorry they were, etc.  Still after they promised to give my info to the route manager...np papers!!

Finally I called and said give me my $11.88.  Almost a year later and no papers, no refunds.  Now they call me all day.  I picked and a guy tells me I OWE??!!!!  OMG!!!  I went absolutly nuts on the guy.  He tells me he is gonna make sure I get my money.  Guess what 2 weeks later still no refund and I got at least 5 calls today!!!!

Left a message that seemed to start before voicemail was recordng about movie tickets. And easy pay.  Started getting a number of calls after signing on with the Inquirer.

Similar story as others. First got a voicemail about movie tickets. Now I get calls up to 5 times a day with no message. Very annoying.

I sometimes get as many as 6 calls a day from Phila Direct.  If I'm home I simply break the connection without answering.  If I'm not home, they don't leave a message when they call.
I don't know what else to do.  I'm on the federal Do-not-Call list.  But that seems to be a cruel joke on the populace!

Keep receiving calls from the same number 215-245-1398 caller ID : Phila Direct. We pick up and no one ever answers. Very annoying!! They are an advertising agency (Google Philadelphia Direct). Isn't this illegal if our numbers are registered on the National and/or PA State Do Not Call List?

WE got the Inquirer on the 13 week special home delivery. We cancelled the paper after that because it didn't make the driveway till after 8:00 on weekdays and more often not till after 9 or 10 on the weekends. If we want one- we'll BUY it at the local store! I've gotten "Come back- we MISS you" notices in the mail- and now they're calling. The other day the woman said "Oh is this Mrs. S? I see you've just moved into the neighborhood?" I said "NO- we've been here THIRTY YEARS." She replied "Oh- I guess we got wrong information." I told her we cancelled for lousy service, owe them no money- do NOT want delivery- and not to call again- we're on a do not call list. If they call again- I'll file complaints every time they do.
