This was from 'General Services". I'd asked a question on my social security form (online) and this is the number they used to call me back. Legit.

Social Security Administration---- definitely legit

I thought they did their business by mail only.I know That is how The I.R.S. does.

if you apply for social security benefits, they ask for a phone number and email address so they can contact you for further info or clarification.

I received a phone call that I owe approx. $1,000. I looked at my bank statement from October 2012 - March 2013; it is not error.

This was the HR department of the Social Security Administration.  Legit call.

The telephone number, 215-597-5657 is an out of service, and past Social Security number.  I called the Federal Trade Commission and was told that the government will never call you and will always use mail.  This is a scam.

I would like to know why I received a phone call from General Service? telephone #215-597-5657.

I received a phone call from 215-597-5657, claiming to be a Social Security representative, but did not give a name or Employee number.  What makes me question this number is that NORMALLY Social Security does not leave personal information on a message system and always asks many verifying questions before indulging information.  The phone call was also received on a Sunday morning at 9:03AM.  If you receive a phone call like this that makes you suspicious, don't return a phone call to this number or any like it; call Social Security and report it during normal business hours.  THIS IS NOT A NORMAL PHONE CALL FROM SOCIAL SECURITY.

Receive a call from this number today from a Mike Colosia (sp?) from the Social Security Administration about my husband's disability application.  Since the number came in as Unknown I didn't answer.  He left a message with a 1-866 number with extension and explained what information was needed.  My husband called and it was legit.  

This is a legit call.  I filed an application online with Social Security Administration earlier this week and received a call from a Miss Waters, who left her name and her direct number, in which the last 4 digits were different.

Called me at 7:30AM! I aksed for them to call me back later. The caller gave one name, Beverly, at the beginning and another Deborah, at the end. She had my recent application. Im concerned. This is obviously a scam. Im reporting this.

This guy called for my wife, he is definitely a scam, just hang up

don't waste your time or give any info.I could barely understand

Called at 10:00 am caller ID US Government 1-215-597-5657. Said they called from SSA and requested information about a SS Application. Called SSA they said it was not them and to report it to the FTC @ 877-438-4338

This is the number I was asked to return the call on re: SSD. I have a pending application. They knew personal info. re: my income and SSD. Said I was approved for SSD and needed proof of income back to 5/2013 since I was approved from then. Also said I was entitled to medicare since its been 27 mos

I too have been getting calls from this number and when I call Social Security they act so aloof to my inquiry.  I think they need to follow up on it and not me, I still work and don't have time with this mess.

Called on a Saturday at 8:01am. Left no message. Since when would social security have my CELL number & call on weekends at 8am (not during regular business hours m-f). Can't be legit.
