It comes up on my caller ID as Purple Heart, nothing else. Not sure what it is. I never answer it, never heard of it.

They're ligit. They call to see if you want to donate used clothing or other items, never money. If you have stuff to donate, they'll tell you what day someone will be in your area and drive to your home to pick it up. If you won't be home they ask you to leave the items at the curb with some sort of note indicating the items are for them. They even leave a receipt so you can deduct the donation on your tax return.

For years we have donated to the Purple Heart without any problem.  We live in a gated community for senior citizens and over the past year we have had a problem due to the fact they do not want to use the call box located at the gate.  The last time they came the driver called on his cell phone which we did not answer due to the fact we had no idea who it was and my wife was here by herself.  What is so hard for them to use a call box?  I have two containers with dozens of clothing to donate, so we will now take to other facilities instead.  There loss.
