- ncds| 1 replyClaims to be from MicroSoft. Says my Windows PC is generating multiple errors and they can fix it at my end. Hard to understand Indian accent. Wanted access to my pc. NO THANKS !!!!
- HelloI also received call saying my computer has virus. Person disconnected call when I said I don't even have computer. Seems to be some fake call.
- Carlcalled claiming to be from Microsoft saying my computer was sending error messages to ATT?
I ended up calling Microsoft and they tried to sell me a 99$ virus protection for the issue????????????
I don't think they could have gotten into my computer because I never clicked on anything? - JoanSaid hello but no other message .
- PhilMy non-tech savvy sister-in-law got one of these calls a few weeks ago and let them into her computer. Luckily she did'nt have any personal or financial information on it. She only uses it to access favorite websites, but afterwards the PC quit working. Had to have the hard drive replaced.
- Philip from CTI just got the same call this morning. Some Indian guy named Jack said my computer had lots of viruses. When I kept repeating that I didn't have a computer, he finally told me "f*** you" and hung up.
This is just a scam call. The DNC list does not work on these guys. They don't care. In a day or so they will use a new number to call from.- Caller: Virus scam
- MimitThey also use the number: 949-111-2226. Must think we Americans are a bunch of dumba--e-! Beginning to think the do-not-call list is fake. Since I just renewed my home & cell phones on the list I have had a barrage of calls on both!!! Anyone else have this same experience?
- IgwI don't answer strange numbers I don't know. I check on line . If they are legit, they will leave a message however I had some that leave a message and in the background you can tell it's like a call center; you can hear voices in the background .
- CarlscDO NOT LET THESE PEOPLE HAVE ACCESS TO YOUR COMPUTERS! This is a TOTAL SCAM and FRAUD Call! These people are MONSTERS, preying on people who do not know better than to give strangers access to their computers!!
- Caller: Claim To Be MicroSoft
- Call type: Prank
- ElaineSo glad to have a reporting site like this. I NEVER answer numbers I do not recognize - particularly when they are not in my area code. The postings here just confirmed what I already thought -scammers!
- Marilyn, from FloridaFirst, a woman called. Definite accent. Had to ask her to repeat several times. Then she turned me over to a man. Also an accent, but not so bad. Supposedly my computer needed cleaning because they could tell it was compromised. Why I went to my computer when he asked, I'll never know. When he insisted I buy security for 2 years at a cost of $90, I finally caught on. Did not give him any numbers. When I asked, one of them told me the company was Tech Yankee. My local police checked that out and that company was in Michigan. The phone said the call was from Pennsylvania, and the number was 215-896-3556, as I picked it off of my phone. Never again!
- Caller: Tech Yankee
- Scott Carbonara"Jim" called from "Microsoft" to tell me how he could fix my computer problems. Next time, I will explode "Jim's" eardrum by blowing my Thanks-but-I'm-not-really-interested whistle in the phone.
- Caller: Microsoft
- Call type: Telemarketer
- MichelleThis guy has called our house 3 times in the last two days. He said he was with AT&T and that he noticed some things wrong with our computer. I hung up on him. He called back that evening and asked for my husband by name. I said he wasn't here and asked if I could help him (recognizing the number) he said no and he would call back and then he hung up. Today he called again and our kids did not answer. Unnerving that that he knows our name and keeps calling. One of my neighbors works for the FBI, guess I'll be giving him this number to check out...
- Caller: Claims to be AT&T
- SteveThis number called me three times today. First time they just hung up. Second time I didn't answer, and they didn't leave a message. Third time I answered, and someone with a heavy accent started talking. He said something about my computer, and straightaway I asked him what he was selling. "Oh, no, no, we're not selling..." Then he hung up. Later I dialed the number back and got a answering service message with a proper male American accent. I did not leave a message. I will file a complaint with the FCC.
- MeaganCalled back in the middle of the night to see who keeps calling me answering machine says Bob Carter don't know who this guy is but calls are very annoying.
- CIDCalls start coming in at 830 in the am and have called three times within 3 hours. Won't leave msg on answering machine... hangs up when call is answered.
- Caller: cell phone
- CBradfordGot a call from this number tonight. Person got dodgy when I asked why Windows' (he would NOT say Microsoft) tech support would call me from a cell phone (comes up Wireless Caller on my caller ID). I asked, "If my computer is sending you all these error messages, then you would have some basic information from my Windows registration, correct?" He confirmed that he did indeed have it. I asked him to verify my name. He gave the wrong one. I hung up. Strong Indian accent confirmed. Don't fall for this scam!
- Call type: Telemarketer
- Bob54I received 3 calls from this number (215-896-3556) over the course of an hour. Beginning at 8:45 AM, a male with a thick Indian accent claimed to be from "Windows" and indicated he needed access to my computer. No access was given of course but someone from this number called two more times within an hour per the caller ID on the phone. This appears to be a scam-do not fall for it!
Note-background noises heard on the call indicate a "boiler room" operation of some sort-likely a gang of crooks!- Caller: "Windows" allegedly.
- Call type: Telemarketer
- shawn phillyThanks for this site I thought something was fishy with that guy#thank you
- No fools allowedThe heavy eastern accent man "Jim" insisted I needed to get my Microsoft fixed. Told him I have my own tech support. Asked him he would like to speak with my head tech supervisor?. He hung up.
- Caller: cell phone
