We recently tried to upgrade our dsl service.  this number started calling us saying they needed information about who was in the house at what time and asking if we had any animals in the house.  they said they were verizon and needed to send technicians in.  we called verizon after the fact and they said it was not them and they put a tracer on our phone and suggested we call the police and fire a report.

This is Verizon tech support calling.  I had a problem with my DSL and they would call up to update me.  They would also called to setup a time for when a technician can come over.

Ahhh After reading the above post by Luis I feel much better! I too, just had DSL problems with Verizon and had given my cell number as an alternate contact number. While I did not answer the call so I cannot say with 100 % certainty, I feel the call is most likely from Verizon.

The caller ID says "Progressive" but it is really Verizon tech support

I was having problems getting my modem for internet to work.  I had not called anyone as yet; however,  "I received" a call from -- they said Verizon.  They didn't have my phone number.  It was a new cell phone.  How did they know my number to call me?

I just spoke with Verizon yesterday several times about my DSL service & got a call from this number today.  i didn't answer, & there was no VM left.  White Pages Reverse Lookup provided:  Progressive cmpt, Cleveland, OH.

I also think  this is Verizon tech support calling from this number.  I received no calls from this number until i had problems with my dsl.  I have received calls during the day, when i was not at home, but what is troubling is i also received 2 calls at nght as late as 11pm.  I was not awake to answer.  Does Verizon tech support call customers that time of night??

I, too, received calls from this number - on my land line and on my cell. I do believe it is Verizon DSL tech support, since I have had problems with my DSL for 5 months now, with technicians coming out to my home 4 times. They do call at odd hours, but I am thinking that it is because they are located in some foreign country somewhere. The techs that I have spoken to always have some thick foreign accent, and are very apologetic also. I kind of wonder why Verizon doesn't hire US citizens to work in their DSL tech support offices ??? Odd for sure.

Just got 2 calls from 216 912 0343 tonight back to back... i didnt answer it b/c i didnt know the number and i dont know anyone in Ohio...
Anyway I have been having problems with my DSL and a Tec did come out yesterday and do something with the outside lines.. Well later yesterday i was again having connectivity issues.. So i called Verizon back and gave them a ear full.. The thing is noone talked good english, after bitching about the service and  telling them they were'nt doing their job, they are now sending me a new modem and they swear that it is what causing my problems... the modem i have now is 5 yrs old.. i really dont think its that but ill give it a try...

They try their hardest to make themselves sound good but i told them that as i said they dont know what they are doing and are not doing their job. I do have my modem settings open  and i can track what's going on with the service.. after telling them that, they told me that i shouldnt even have that up... oh well...gotta do what you gotta do.

i have been receiving phone calls for the last three days from progressive cmpt and no voice mail was left.  they not only call my land line but they also call my cell phone always.  After reading the other comment on this phone number, Which I also looked up on the internet that they are from Ohio,  I do not answer a call from a number I do not know who it is  because I know there are telemarketers that can get thru even if you are on the do not call list.  I would like to report this as an official complaint. I am going to let  Verizon also know of this scam

I too contacted Verizon to help reset my password. I had called the number from the Verizon bill. Initially the tech, who sounded like he was overseas, said if I would let him access the computer he would reset it right away. I declined and requested he walk me through it, which he did. Several hours later I received a call from this # 216-912-0343 asking if all was well and did I need any additional help. I said all was fine, but thought it odd that it came up on caller ID as Progressive CMPT. After hanging up with what sounded like an overseas call as well, I tried dialing back several times (since yesterday) and just keep getting a busy signal. In this day of technology, is it possible, someone has figured out how to listen in on calls to Verizon or to intercept calls to them? Call me paranoid, but....

Just wanted to concurr with all of you that what happen to y'all happened to me as well after calling Verizon two days ago due to email problems. If the caller ID had said Verizon, I would of answered the phones.

They called but left no message. I have problems opening my e-mails. After an hour on the phone with them, they told me it was the browser.... Really, since they made me "update" my e-mail I have had nothing but problems. They wanted to connect me with another tech but I would have to pay for it. This is so wrong, the problem is with them, not my computer. They increased my internet fee and the service is worse, slower speed, keeps freezing up, kicks me off line. Another money scam by Verizon. After the phone call, every time I wanted to open my favorites... it was in Chinese. What is going on?

They called ALL my phone numbers. My home, my cell and even a old Google Talk phone number I had laying around and forgot about (I got an email with the message transcript). On my home number (which I answered) I heard "call from to accept press 1" and I hung up. They left a message on the other numbers with some bull about technical support. I have nothing with Verizon but my cellphone, I have not called technical support for ANYTHING in the past 12 months. It is certainly fishy in my book. I will treat it as a scam telemarket call and ignore it.

They did leave a message, but I couldn't make out most of it because I'm hearing impaired. Purported to be Verizon and said something about Honeysuckle Drive. Message was cut off.

Each time i call Verizon support I get this after call, don't answer.  Verizon support from overseas is very poor, need to switch from Verzon.
