Automated marketing call with recorded message.  Hang-up!

This number called a family member of mine at their work today -on her specific extension- which in and of itself is strange since she gave that number only as an emergency contact. Within a couple hours, the same number then called her cell phone which she has had for only 8 months now and has given it out to "no one but family and friends." We don't know how, or where these low-lifes are compiling their information from, or what low-lifes are supplying it to them, but this is becomming unacceptable. We have had to consider giving up our landlines that we've had forever because of these scum, and understand these numbers likely ubiquitous on heir call sheets (although on the DNC list). But having these low-life, santorum-sucking, bile-buckets calling our professional and personal numbers that we have, in this information age carefully guarded since acquiring is unacceptable. I am in a non-spoofing state, these [***] better pray I don't discover their identity. Please people, guard your personal numbers, don't trust ANY internet, medical, or whatever form. And where you do have to give out your numbers, make note of these places so hopefully you can deduce the source should these [***] ever start calling and expose them. I would like to litigate these [***] out of existence, its highly improbable, but not impossible, at least I would like them to stop operating with impunity and worry about calling the "wrong person."

This number called my cell phone. I did not answer, But knew I was someone I didn't want to speak to from the area code itself

Yesterday I gave my number to green dot.  Today I got a marketing call. They will sell your number. I am blocking them.

This number called my cell. Since I did not recognize it I ignored the call. It kept ringing and ringing my phone one cycle after another it would disconnect! I had to power off my phone to get it to stop ringing!

Ignored it...i think they are sniffing text message activity to make these calls

Call received on cell phone, could very well be from text message database sniffing.
Automated telemarketer claiming "this is not a sales call" but of course.
Trying to sell some wireless security system-  hung up right then and didn't listen to the rest of the spiel.

My assumption is that they generate phone numbers by starting with and area code appending a prefix and starting with 0001.
Then when that hangs up add 1 and go to 0002, etc.  You cannot "no list" them because they are not using a list, just truly robo-dialing

"Attention! This is not a sales call - you have been referred by a friend or family member to receive a home security system..."

Revived this call on my cell today.
It claims it wasn't a sales call but I was to revive an assurance wireless phone with free mins. Blah blah blah

When you call it back you get a busy tone.
