I received 6 phone calls this morning claiming to be from Publishers Clearing House, John Tucker, 239-491-4157. He said I had won $2 million and a new car. He also said he needed $399 to verify I was who I am. I did not give him any money. I reported it to the Ohio State Attorney General's Office for them to follow up.
I attempted to call their number from a Google Voice number and a recording said I was calling a Magic Jack number.
Within the hour the phone rang again, same number, the man's voice was different and he claimed to be from the US Treasury Department.
I contacted the Publisher's Clearing House and the US Treasury Dept.- Caller: (fake) Publisher's Clearing House and US Treasury Dept
- MikelGot a call from this number, then a voicemail with just 2 seconds of empty noise
- ErikThis appears to be a faked number, easy enough to do with today's technology. In my case they were trying to scam me oon money posing as an individual who spoke bad English trying to get me to wire them money.
I sent the fake mails onto PayPal's fraud e-mail
Illegal would be the appropriate category- Caller: Individual (Ruby)
- FdI got a call from my brother-in-law displaying this number. It turns out he is using a free Internet telephony program, like Google Voice or Skype, that will route a free call using some available number, like this one. His call was legitimate; he was calling us to say hi. But you can see how a scammer would want to use a similar program to place a free, untraceable call, and would end up displaying this number.
- Caller: None
- ClayGot a call from this number obvious scam. Wanted me to send him my bank details for a wire to wire transfer for a winning number that I supposedly won. Told him to send the winning ticket or whatever he had to my address (not my real one). He hung up after I told him that was the only way he would get anything from me is to send me proof of my "winnings".
- nickthey called me today but my metro phone blocker blocked it and listed as a scammer
- WalterThis is a definite scammer.
- TexasGot a call yesterday at 2:38 pm and I didn't answer but returned the call like 20 minutes later. Some woman answered and she said it was wrong number. I just received a call just now at 9:45 pm and again I didn't answer but then returned the call. The same women answered and she said "wrong number" I told her this was the second time she called. She said her "daughter" has a similar number to my number. She sounded like a normal woman nothing fancy.
- Caller: unknown Woman
- sassy0422The caller said he was calling from publishers clearing house. When I told him he was calling a phone on the do not call list & he should remove me from his call list, he said "sweetheart calm, this is a legitimate number. Look at your phone". I said I don't care, please take me off your list & do not call again. He said fine & I hung up on him.
- Caller: Publishers Clearing House
- ScottyMCaller indicated he was with the Warrenty Department and was calling to refund $300.00 I had paid. He indicated that no information would be shared with the Federal Government. then asked me to pay $10.00 to begin the processing... that was when I told him that I believed he was scamming me and to remove my name and number from his list and to never call me again... then I hung up.
- Caller: "Warrenty Company"
- JoybelleThis number called three times today. The first time they hung up before I answered. The second call, a couple minutes after the first, sounded like a young girl asking me if she can get married. I asked who it was, and she just answered with "you don't remember me??". So I hung up. The third call came about an hour later but they hung up after saying hi. Again, sounded like a young girl.
