Report a phone call from 245-781-4722 and help to identify who and why is calling from this number.
- GD CrawfordGot 3 calls from this number on Memorial Day. Caller ID showed "Name Unavailable" so I ignored the first two calls. On the third, I answered and asked who was calling. The guy calling had an eastern Indian accent and said he was "calling about my computer - my Windows computer". I told them to take my name off their list and stop calling me!
- cattieI just got a call from that number with the same message. I hung up.
- doolesThis number calls leaves no message. I do not answer numbers that I do not know. How can we stop these calls.
- GooglerThe 245 area code is listed as unassigned. Presumably the caller is spoofing the phone number information.
- Grrrrr| 1 replyI answered a call from them last evening. He said his name was "Ronnie" (yeah, right ... definitely calling from India) and said, "Yeah, um, I'm calling about your Windows computer." I yelled into the phone "I'm on the DO NOT CALL LIST, and I WILL report you!" and slammed the phone down. So very, very tired of these calls. What good is the DO NOT CALL list if I get at least one telemarketer call everyday ??? Some days 3 or 4. The FCC needs to get in to gear and actually be effective in eliminating this blight. Why are they not protecting us? I guess they're too busy dragging their feet on the whole stored phone call data thing ....
- Caller: Unknown "Ronnie"
- Call type: Telemarketer
- Anon.No message left. Called ID shows "name unavailable." Thanks for the above info.
- Caller: Name unavailable
- Call type: Telemarketer
- Margaret replies to GrrrrrI was thinking the exact same thing... as it has become my habit to answer the phone but not speak... so no one ever comes on the line, but I have received 3 calls today, one while sleeping. So what good is the Do Not Call List if I continue to receive just about as many calls from marketers as in the past...
- BelladinaCaller ID showed "Name Unavailable" so I ignored the first call. On the second, I answered and asked who was calling. The guy sounded Indian accent and his name was Patrick said he was "calling about my computer my Microsoft software was infected on the computer". I told them I will call Microsoft my self he insisted that he would help I then hung up the phone.
- Annoyed in NY| 1 replyReceived 3 calls from this number this morning, each about 15 minutes apart, least one at 10:32 am. All were male voices with thick Indian accents, giving names like "John" or "Robert". Same script - said they were calling from Microsoft about my Windows computer, and I immediately told them I was not interested, to remove me from their call list, & to stop calling. Third caller, "John", became argumentative and then continued to talk as I repeated several times to stop calling, take me off list, not interested, and then I told him I would report his phone # to the FCC if I received any more calls, and I hung up. I will not answer any more of these calls. VERY annoying. ... Oh look, it's 10:43 am and the same number is calling again right now. A whole 11 minutes of quiet.
- Caller: Scammer said "Microsoft"
- AnonymThe area code is unassigned, so it is a spoofed call from an overseas call center. Try as you might, the idea of a DNC list or threats of the FCC are meaningless to these animals. Their end game is simple--try and get someone , usually elderly, but can be anyone if caught off guard, to think that there is actually something afoul with their computer and as such, to provide the caller with access usually by asking for log in details. Once they are successful, they will install malware, spyware, etc. and force the victim into paying them a fee to remove it an disinfect their computer. Or, they will monitor the victim's keystrokes in an attempt to steal log in details to bank accounts or the like.
The best thing you can do is to attempt to string them along for as long as you can, since the longer you can engage them the less time they can have preying on someone else. They are well trained, however, to abruptly hang up when they figure out that they cannot complete their scamming activity. Otherwise, just hang up--although a well-placed high pitched whistle into the handset wouldn't be so bad as you are slamming the phone down on them. - Agnes| 1 replyThey got me but when I gave them my credit card my credit card put the transaction on pending. . Later in the evening the Indian called and said that my pc already had the software installed and that Microsoft would refund the 350 dollars that was charged to my crdit card. But that I would have to open an on line account account for the refund to be deposited in. And he reeled off a llist of banks that I could use. when I refused he became very excited, sounded angry that I would not open an online account. I told him I would call my lawyer. At this he said, call your lawyer and hung up.So I hung up and called my credit card company. I also called Microsoft who gave me a. Reference number to give to my bank as evidence that I did submit a complaint.
- Caller: He said he was callinf from Microsoft.
- AgnesMy credit union said these calls are coming from Hawaii.Microsoft nevercall people to offer service. The customer has to call. And microsoft charges are only about 150 dollars to fix a bug
- MichiganI received a call from this number and said "hello" three times, no answer and then they just hung up. It came through as "Name not found" but the number was visible. I am so sick of these calls. They always call at the most disruptive times! We're on the Do Not Call list but get these stupid calls 3 or 4 times a day!
- T replies to AgnesAgnes, I just got this exact same call. I knew it was a scam but I let him talk to see how far it would go. If he told you to type stuff into your computer and download something, please do not use your computer until you can get it fixed. He has access to it now and can use all personal info on there. Get someone trustworthy to run a malware sweep and virus scan and reset your settings back to normal.
- Ajit DanielI have had numerous calls from these crooks. Last week, I answered one of the calls and for a brief moment or two I heard a South Asian voice, most likely a Pakistani, talking to someone in his physical proximity making a reference to "Karachi," which is a Pakistani city. When I said, "Hello, and why are you hassling me…," the person hung up. I immediately called back but got a "busy" signal. I agree with the other complainants that our (U.S.) government has to do something to make the DO NOT CALL LIST meaningful!
By the way, I have had two more calls from the same number, one as recent as 1:51 pm CDT yesterday, 12th June. Of course, I simply let the phone ring! - ScottThis company calls me about once a month. One time when I told them there was nothing wrong with my computer and that I was only interested in finding out what scam they were trying to run they called me a [***] and hung up. A few days later they called back and I was busy to I just told them to put me on the do not call list, the guy said they do not have a do not call list so I just hung up. Now today they called again, I let the guy go through his script before I got tired of listening to him then told him I know this is a scam and to quit calling as I get this call about one a month. He then said if I didn't like his once a month call see how I like being called 100 times a day. We will see how this play out.
- Caller: Says from Microsoft
- Call type: Telemarketer
- Raleigh NC ResidentReceived four calls from this number and one call from "anonymous." Male with an east Indian accent says he's from Windows Support. Have repeatedly asked to be removed from their system. They continue to call...
- Caller: Windows Support
- Call type: Telemarketer
- AnonymousPerson was reading a prepared script about my computer. I told him I was not interested and did not want the service and he replied, "You are very annoying! Would you shut up!" and then hung up on me.
- JBEverything posted here pretty well fits these scammers. Dont answer the phone if number not recognized. I sort of played the game and picked up and didnt talk. After 3 hellos he hung up. No way to really stop them it seems like.
- HankSo far at least 45 calls. East Indian who wanted to argue when I called him East Indian. Told him I don't want any calls and not interested but call about 3 times a day. This is called harassment but nothing will get done.
