- MARCIE| 1 replyStop these horrible calls please; we're sick of them!!
- Marine mom| 3 repliesThey called 2 times in a 45 minute span. I did not answer but looked up the number and see that they are called Tel West. 2 calls in 45 minutes? I didn't answer the first time for a reason and I am on the Do Not Call Registry. I will file a complaint against them with DNCR.

- DMM| 6 repliesThey are unrelenting, 6 calls in the last two weeks, last 10 min ago. File a complaint with the National Do Not Call Registry as I've done; maybe the bloated buracracy will do something for a change.

- Tyler replies to DMM| 4 repliesSeriously... it's sad but I have no faith in government programs. Instead of some kind of cheesy federal mandate like the DNC registry... how about leverage on cell phone providers to just LET US BLOCK A FREAKIN' PHONE NUMBER. To me, this isn't about spam calls or the DNC list. It's about the massive joke we submit ourselves to in the form of cell phone companies. They leave out simple features such as call-blocking in an attempt to nickle-and-dime consumers for each minute these spammers call.
- phxazguy replies to Tyler| 2 repliesTyler, I agree with your lack of faith of government programs as it pertains to the DNC (Do-Not-Call) Registry. I do want to point out that many cell phone providers DO offer you an option to block a number that calls you. I have Verizon Wireless. I DID pay an additonal $4.95 month to have "usage controls" added to my line so I could block up to 20 calls. I know with Verizon Wireless you have the option of blocking up to 5 calls for FREE. Definately check with your phone company provider to see what they offer that can help you block unwanted telemarketing calls.
- phxazguy| 3 repliesReceived call on 09/29/2011 at 02:56 PM MST from 253-246-8553 in Kent WA. I allow all unknown out of area calls to go to voice mail, and as usual no message was left. I called the number back with my Google Voice number and got a recording "if you no longer want to receive calls on future promotions, press 1." HA! Yeah, right. It's SPAM.
Most of the telemarketing calls I get are on my landline. I use "selective call blocking" offered by my phone service provider to block many of these calls. It was an additional $2.75 per month, but well worth it. I also have "selective call forwarding" set up to forward the most annoying telemarketers to my Google Voice number. In Google Voice simply add a new contact and add the phone number. Save., then select "change google voice settings" Next, under "When this contact calls you", click "Edit" and then the radio button next to the drop-down box with "Send to Voicemail in it".
(We don't want that, we want it blocked)
---Next, go to the drop-down box and select the third option "Block Caller". Save.
When the telemarketer calls back he or she will hear the 3 tone or SIT tone disconnect "no longer in service" message. Most Auto Dialer systems used by Telemarketers will interpret the 3 tone signal as a disconnected number and automatically remove your number from their database to maximize the efficiency of the systems they use to call you.
By the way, Google Voice is FREE. I selected a Google Voice number with the same area code to avoid toll charges on my landline.
Hope this helps.- Caller: Unknown

- Ginni| 1 replyCalled me on the 23rd from a different number and now from 253-246-8553. Both times calling me as "Thomas Home Protection" (or Tom, with Home Protection). I don't have caller ID, but I do have the TeleZapper and either it's not working or it has come unplugged.
The first time they called me I hung up, and yesterday when they called I told them I was registered on Do Not Call, so DO NOT CALL!
Can't wait for them to be hit with those $11,000 fines, that will be sweet.- Caller: Home Protection

Thank you for the great advice! I have some questions about Google Voice-I have already set up my annoying people contact list. Can I program GV to block my existing contact, or will I have to enter them all over again when I sign up? Also I will need instructions if I can block my existing contact.
