A missed call on my cell phone with no message. I would like to know how they got my number.

it was a robo-call telemarketer. once i asked for the name of the business, they hung up

Someone from this number called me too.  Called back twice and no one answered.  How did someone get my number?

My bf got a random call from this number and they didn't say anything they just hung up.

Automated call asking if I or a loved one smokes.

Sounds like one more slimy telemarketer. Don't know anyone in Tacoma WA, they left no message. Call ignored and now that number is completely blocked.

Got a call from (253) 248-4994. Answered and they hung up. I called back, guess what? The number you are trying to reach is no longer in service. I think this is a way for the govt to check who's phones still work and which ones to drop from the watch list. Just a theory.

dont know who called tried to call back and received a busy signal.

I have a new cell phone and number, only gave it out to 3-4 people max. Just received a call from this number, no message left. I have no idea who this is and am blocking this number. Seems like a phising expedition from a spamming scammer. I consider it harassment.

the same thing happened to me. i dont know how someone has my number, i just got it on about 4 days ago.

Just got a call 10 minutes ago from this number, wasn't there and didn't answer. Thank God I look up the number and found I'm not the only one with this problem.

should this number be reported to someone like our cell phone companies

Level 3 Communications which does possess counter-intelligence contracts.  Don't know about the watch list but you are correct about the government theory.  They just called me this evening.

Nope ... it is a creditor check.  I have my ex's phone while she is Europe for two weeks.  If the person does not answer, avoidance, they use another number to see if you answer.  If so, well not sure ... they just want to know if your reachable still.

This is a scam marketer hiding behind spoofed CallerID, possibly abusing a VoIP carrier.

They are regionally carpet-bombing cell phones over time. The fact that calls are geographically clustered within a given time frame points to a possible database compromise (Sprint? Verizon? other carriers?) of cell phone numbers, rather than a purely random robo-dialer doing the dialing.  

The real villains are the tobacco companies that paid for this marketing campaign, not just the cretins making these calls.

they called me on 10/24 did not leave a message and didn't try again.

This number also called me on Friday, October 17, 2014 at 7:48 p.m.

Only afterward did I notice I had missed the call. I did not notice the phone ringing.

This number just called my wife's phone no one was on the line... When call back it says the number has been disconnected
